An innovative and creative thinker, the Public Relations Manager is responsible for formulating, coordinating, and executing profile-raising strategies that enhances and advances Morgan Lewis's brand awareness and external communications efforts. In this key role, you'll work seamlessly with lawyers and in collaboration and coordination with marketing and business development professional staff teams to identify key experiences and related subject matters that support practice generation efforts.

The Public Relations Manager is instrumental in execution of public relations activities, including promoting the firm's connected legal services provided to clients, new developments and initiatives at the firm, as well as position our lawyers as thought leaders on industry trends, pertinent breaking news, and regulatory developments. You'll manage day-today PR execution: writing, editing and distributing press releases; identifying news hijacking opportunities; drafting media pitches, crafting compelling talking points; securing and facilitating interview opportunities; placing byline articles; monitoring news coverage and reporting results; and contributing to the firm's database of media targets.

Responsibilities include:

Drives profile-raising efforts, including securing media placements to position the firm and lawyers as leaders in their field and develops strategic media plans with established goals, project deadlines, and reporting metrics to support practice generation objectives.

Proactively create and pitch story ideas to media outlets, vet opportunities, draft talking points and participate in some media coaching and training efforts. Emphasis is placed on cultivating relationships with key reporters across the firm's jurisdictions in a wide variety of legal, trade, and business outlets.

Identifies and creates opportunities to leverage positive news coverage and content creation in other firm communication vehicles.

Maintains an uncompromised ability to respond quickly to current events with a strong sense of urgency and presents insightful interpretations and corresponding recommendations for thought leadership action and public relations posturing.

Develop and execute PR plans for all marketing campaigns as part of a broader campaign plan. Manage relationships and collaborate with external PR agencies that amplifies overall firm strategy.

Advise and assist on executive communications, including those of a sensitive or potentially crisis-related nature.

Collaborates with the firm's Awards & Recognitions team on pertinent award and ranking opportunities.

Experience and qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related marketing, communications or journalism discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in communications, media relations, or comparable discipline in a corporate setting.

Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally, including clients and the press, and experience excel in highly matrixed work environments working across multiple business units and functional teams.

Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with differing opinions and personalities.

Strong planning and organizational skills and ability to work independently as well manage and motivate staff to complete projects and assignments, and effectively prioritize and balance competing demands.

Ability o act with a high degree of integrity, discretion, responsiveness, responsiveness, and superior reasoning skills and sound business judgment.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and social media tools and resources.

For positions in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this job posting is $104,494.00 - $167,190.00. For positions in NY, the salary range for this job posting is $113,580.00 - $181,728.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
