Role Qualifications:Education:
Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD) or civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology.Equivalent experience without AAS degree - high school graduate and 3+ years of experience in electric utility and/or computer-aided drafting work.
Interest in high-voltage transmission/distribution line engineering. Experience is a plus.Ability to effectively read and understand construction drawings.Ability to develop and coordinate design drawings.Expert understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microstation.Knowledge of PLS-CADD and/or safety codes, utility standards, and regulations (NESC, ASCE IEEE) a plus.High level of attention to detail.Ability to work independently and within a team environment, working with individuals from various offices and in various disciplines.Must possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities at one time.Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Valid Driver's License is required.Day-to-day job responsibilities:
Responsible for creating and revising drawings and documentation for transmission and distribution projects in AutoCAD, from scope documents, engineering sketches, and/or verbal instructions.Preparing bills of material to procure needed materials for projects.Assisting in preparing applications and supporting documentation for engineering permits when necessary.Coordinating with technical personnel to gather and record data for design projects and complete as built and record print revisions from marked drawings.Communication and coordination with multi-disciplinary groups.Document organization and record keeping.GPD passionately believes that everyone on our team knows they are a valued member of our employee-owned company.
