ResponsibilitiesImplement work schedules for light design projects in areas of discretionary responsibility, ensuring consensus among associates and principalsServe as a mentor and knowledge resource to design assistants in delivering necessary additional production work on relevant projects.Assess, analyze, and advise senior management regarding project construction budgets, utilizing particular discretionary authority over lighting portions of budgets.Assist principals in coordinating meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and regular project status communications and scope of work and task deadlines.Organize design activities for specific scopes of an architectural lighting project including complex 3D calculations or documentation using light design computational software and production programs such as AGI32, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, and Photoshop.Utilize luminaire technology and components, materials and production techniques in order to accurately select, verify and document appropriate lighting products, controls and accessories.Use production software programs, including 3d modeling software programs such as AGI32, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, and Photoshop.Evaluate specific project needs to ensure that draft designs correctly apply integrated design of electric and lighting controls.Provide input and revisions to other senior designers, senior associate or principals when necessary to ensure optimum adherence to these design principles.Assist principals in general coordination of projects, including project tasks, needs assessments, attendance at mockups, and client interaction, in collaboration with the senior associate or principal.Create labor hour budgets for projects in collaboration with project managers.Produce reports with high graphical level and use of appropriate representation tools such as adobe acrobat, photoshop, etc.Liaise with outside architects, interior designers, landscape architects or engineers to ensure the principals lighting design plan successfully integrates with the overall project.Participate in firm marketing efforts, including appealing to and gaining new clients in addition to preparing design presentations on behalf of the firm.Represent HLB to external stakeholders and partners, including involvement in relevant professional societies. contributes lighting design expertise and participating in intensive developmental planning for high-performance, integrated projects involving daylighting and electric lighting.Formulate lighting designs through analysis of electrical lighting controls, build modeling systems, and develop architectural plans to design an environment that balances aesthetics and design, while simultaneously maximizing sustainability.Develop lighting design drawings and 3D modeling plans and make accurate lighting calculations that are consistent with design requirements, with a focus on sustainability.Design leadership in energy and environmental design ("LEED") certified buildings that meet not only the aesthetic, but the functional needs of clients while simultaneously maximizing energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.Work from home allowed 2 days per week. Must live within commuting distance to the worksite.Requirements

Education

Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Lighting Design, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Building Science, or a related field, plus 1 year of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in each of the following: Producing high-level 3D calculations and design documentation using software programs including: AGI32, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, and Photoshop; and using industry/luminaire technology best practices, standards, processes, and procedures, consisting of experience in the customary product distribution chains, the Luminaire equipment/lighting control budgetary process (including knowledge of lighting procurement), industry support protocols, and construction administration.Employer will also accept a bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in any of the above or related fields provided the applicant possesses three years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in the areas set forth above.

Compensation:

$77,045 - $81,880

The final agreed upon compensation is based on cost of living, individual education, qualifications, and experience.
