Position Highlights

The Athletics Department is dedicated to excellence in collegiate sports, building a modern model of intercollegiate athletics fostering a culture of integrity, innovation, and student-athlete success.

The University of Arizona's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an experienced sports marketing professional for the position of Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement. The successful candidate must be team-oriented, highly motivated, digital savvy, a self-starter and organized.

This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

Works with the Leadership Team within Arizona Athletics (ICA) at all levels to ensure the production of high-quality marketing campaigns, materials, and game presentation for all sports.

Manage fan engagement initiatives including advertising, promotions, and websites.

Lead the development and execution of digital revenue generation strategies, including, but not limited to digital advertising, social media paid ads, e-mail, mobile app, website content, and SEO.

Serve as the point person for marketing automation system.

Assist in developing social media strategy and policy.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of ticket information and fan engagement web pages on the official athletics website (OAS).

Develop reports to monitor return on investment (ROI) on digital advertising and marketing efforts.

Develop strategy to fulfill Arizona Sports Enterprises sponsor agreements as it relates to digital and social promotions.

Assist in developing and achieving digital revenue and social media objectives with the Director, Digital Marketing.

Work directly with all advertising partners to develop strategy for ad buys and trade agreements.

Develop and implement marketing plans for all sports; creating content in digital and print form; review and evaluate plans after each season.

Maintain production schedule of promotional materials including posters, pocket schedules, advertisements for all sports.

Work with the ticket sales and ticket operations departments to develop revenue and attendance generation strategies for all sports.

Communicate regularly with head coaches (or an appointed staff member such as a Director of Operations.

Develop and ensure execution of all game presentations for all "show" sports (football, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, gymnastics, softball, baseball). This includes ICA general philosophy and strategic approach towards game presentation.

Communicate and coordinate at a high level with ICA and University of Arizona departments in relation to game presentation (Director of Athletics/senior level administration, facilities and event management, creative services, marching/pep band, UA marketing and brand management, cheer/mascots, HOC presentations).

Serve as a liaison and consultant with outbound sales to develop and execute a strategy to maximize revenue and event experiences.

Develop opportunities and manage gameday fan experiences fulfillment.

Serve as the athletic department's liaison with Trademarks and licensing & Arizona Sports Enterprises.

Oversight of marketing messages and ensuring staff complies with initiatives and policies.

Oversight of social media projects and develops content for social media platforms.

Supervise staff including hiring, performance evaluations, and training.

Budget oversight for sport specific marketing funds.

Budget oversight for marketing and fan engagement, responsible for creating and forecasting needs.

Curate grass roots marketing efforts and external events to grow Wildcat fan base.

Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of leading game presentation for live sporting events.

Knowledge of strategic revenue generating campaigns for e-mail and digital advertising.

Knowledge of developing and executing a social media strategy for multiple platforms.

Ability to problem solve and make decisions.

Leadership skills and the ability to motivate colleagues and subordinates and serve as mentor.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

Five years of related work experience, including 2 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree.

Experience with leading game presentation for college football and/or men's basketball games.

Experience with SEO and paid social media advertising.

Experience with developing website content.

Experience with marketing automation software and tactics.

Personal computer experience in the following applications: DOMO, Paciolan, Eloqua, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Illustrator, SideArm Sports and Adobe Creative Suite.
