Adjunct Teaching Positions

Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce applications are being accepted for part-time adjunct teaching positions for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences is home to nine departments offering 16 undergraduate majors and four graduate majors that offer a variety of ways for students to further their education. The Computer Science department offers an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Computing, and a Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence.

Course Information & Qualifications:

Introduction to Programming with Python:

Teaching CS 140 "Introduction to Programming". Sections are scheduled for Tuesday & Friday 11:00 am to 12:40 pm and Tuesday and Friday 3:30 pm to 5:10 pm. Candidates must possess a master’s degree in computer science or a closely related discipline and have industry experience in programming in Python. Prior university teaching experience is desired. Candidates must be able to teach in-person on-campus during normal business hours.

Data Modeling and Database Design with PostgreSQL:

Teaching CS 205 "Data Modeling and Database Design". Section is scheduled for Tuesday and Friday 5:30 to 7:10 pm. Candidates must possess a master's degree in computer science or a closely related discipline and have extensive industry experience in database development with PostgreSQL. Prior university teaching experience is desired. Candidates must be able to teach in-person on-campus.

Computer Organization and Architecture:

Teaching CS 215 "Computer Organization and Architecture". Section is scheduled for Tuesday and Friday 11:00 am to 12:40 pm. Candidates must possess a master's degree in computer science or a closely related discipline and have significant industry or academic experience in computer organization and architecture. Prior university teaching experience is desired. Candidates must be able to teach in-person on-campus during normal business hours.

Salary & Benefits:

The current minimum starting salary is $2,026 per load credit (or a minimum of $6,078 for a single 3 credit course). Additional information on benefits can be found at www.wcsu.edu/hr/benefits/. All employment, if offered, is contingent upon proof of citizenship or employability under the requirement of the Immigration and Control Act (IRCA) and the successful passing of a background check.
