Marketing and Communications ManagerWe are in search of a creative and innovative non-profit Marketing and Communications Manager (the Manager), with a passion for visual arts education, who will lead our Marketing and Communications team. The Manager will be instrumental in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies that promote our mission, programs, and services. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment and be responsible for developing and implementing programs in marketing and communications.The Manager position is an exempt, full-time position reporting to the President of Studio Institute. The Manager supervises several part-time positions, one part-time Communication & Marketing position, one part-time Video Documentation & Social Media position, and one part-time Editorial Assistant position.About Studio InstituteLet the power of art change your life. We believe that arts are an indispensable means for discovery and innovation that enriches learning and contributes to the vitality of communities.Our work focuses on investing in community through artist led residency programs, advancing professions through apprenticeships and internships in the arts, and sharing resources with arts and educational communities, including classroom program models, professional development models, and evidence based visual arts curricula.Based upon the 40 years of successful impact in visual arts education, Studio in a School formed Studio Institute (Studio) in 2016 with the goal to expand our scope, providing programs and creating new partnerships with communities and cultural organizations nationwide. Studio is currently working with partners in Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Memphis, Newark, New York, Philadelphia, and Providence.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesMarketingWork with the President and the entire Studio team to develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communication plans aligned with Studio’s program goals.Oversee design and production of written and visual material for both internal and external purposes and audiences.Ensure that Studio Institute has a "brand identity" as a visual arts education organization and is recognized as a national expert.Work with staff and consultants to ensure that all materials maintain the consistent visual and conceptual identity of Studio.Track, monitor, analyze and share marketing metrics to evaluate effectiveness and inform future marketing strategies.CommunicationsManage all publication placement across digital and print channels aligned with Studio’s audience and stakeholders.Develop and maintain strategic partnerships.Oversee creation and maintenance of all marketing materials, including impact reports, annual reports, program brochures, promotional/advertising postcards, letterhead, and correspondence.Write and/or edit diverse materials, including brochures, signage, invitation copy for exhibitions, quarterly newsletters, special events promotions, and other items.Oversee social media for all Studio accounts, including design and execution of social media strategies, regularly scheduled campaigns, and featured stories.Oversee website development and management in collaboration with the communications and marketing team.Cultivate relationships with media outlets, industry partners, and other stakeholders to enhance brand visibility and reach.Supervisory/Project ManagementProvide supervision and support to the communications team.Develop and lead strategic planning for marketing and communications.Track and monitor evaluation and survey responses and results of campaigns and regularly provide analysis to the team and key stakeholders.Maintain and manage all digital assets of Studio, including videos, films, and photography.Maintain a roster of internal and freelance photographers, videographers, and graphic designers to aid in the production of Studio’s printed and digital materials.Manage Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace file/folder system for all users.Train and onboard new team members on communications and marketing policies and procedures, including the use of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.Develop deliverable updates, impact reports and presentations for Studio in a School Association Board of Directors and key stakeholders.Manage budgets and vendor relationships related to marketing and communications.Education and Professional ExperienceBachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a closely related field.3-5 years prior experience in marketing, preferably in the nonprofit or art education sector.Expert level writing and copy-editing experience.Experience using graphic design software (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Squarespace, WordPress, Canva, Google Analytics, Media Valet/digital assets management), email communications programs (Mailchimp), and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).Expertise using Microsoft 365 applications (advanced level Excel for data collection and analysis), and MS Teams/SharePoint for internal communication systems and file/folder management.Experience using Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Forms, file/folder management).Experience developing and executing effective social media strategies, email campaigns, targeted outreach, and newsletters.Experience developing, designing, and creating content for a professional and interactive website including writing blog content.Strong ability to evaluate the effectiveness of communications projects and campaigns.Supervisory experience.Strong decision-making skills and ability to manage multiple projects within expected timelines.Familiarity with local and national media channels to raise awareness of Studio Institute’s programs and services.Personal Qualities and Habits of WorkCommitment to the mission of Studio Institute.Solution-oriented in a collaborative work environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders including artists, leadership, and consultants.Ability to provide clear direction and develop efficient teamwork.Be flexible to support programs and events outside of regular work hours.LocationWe are currently working on a hybrid schedule. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be asked to work (4) days per week in our office at 410 W 59th St, New York, NY, and (1) day per week remote though this schedule may shift and evolve.Vaccination and Masking PoliciesStudio Institute is recommending that all new hires be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 prior to the start date. It is optional for employees to wear a well-fitting mask in our office when the NYC COVID-19 Community Risk Level is “moderate” or “low” based on the CDC website.
