Position Summary :

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for supporting effective marketing strategies, assisting with campaign development, and reporting outcomes. The Specialist will play a supporting role in contributing to the Society's public brand, communication style, member interaction, and social media presence. The Marketing Specialist will work as part of the team supporting APS meetings and events. The team's portfolio includes campaigns related to unit-scientific meetings, APS Global Physics Summit, Annual Leadership Meeting, gender inclusive community events, and exhibitor and sponsorship support, apply today!

Responsibilities:Assist with the creative development, coordination, and implementation of marketing campaigns to raise awareness of APS meetings and events, initiatives, and values.Support the execution of marketing plans through creative thinking, team effort, frequent check-ins with stakeholders, coordination of graphics requests, and producing and proofreading copy.Write, edit, and post marketing copy for articles, websites, emails, social media, advertisements, and other collateral.Evaluate campaign performance to develop insightful reports to help inform future marketing strategies.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organization.Project manage all assignments and portfolios via Asana.Collaborate on projects that assist with daily marketing activities and improve the APS Experience and Engagement strategic goals on an ad hoc basis.Additional duties as assigned.Education:Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field (directly relevant work experience in lieu of degree accepted).Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum of 3 years of professional marketing experience.Experience working with associations or nonprofits.Excellent writing and proofreading skills required.Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects.Advanced working knowledge of project management principles and using tools (Asana preferred) to track work and report outcomes.Familiarity with email marketing, including building, creating, and sending emails; and reviewing performance and analytics.Specialized knowledge of production of marketing materials.Advanced working knowledge of social media, including social media management software.Demonstrated experience with marketing reporting including the use of Google Analytics and social media metrics.Strong organization, documentation, and prioritization skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent attention to detail.Ability to adapt to quickly changing schedules.Ability to work well with interdepartmental teams as well as independently.Preferred: Interest in science.Preferred: Familiarity with Asana work management platformPreferred: Familiarity with Adobe Suite and Google Business Applications.Travel:

This role involves occasional travel, approximately up to 10%, for meetings with APS staff, departmental gatherings, and interactions with colleagues in the Long Island, NY, Washington, DC and College Park, MD areas. Additionally, there may be occasional travel required to attend events as assigned.

Salary:

The salary range for this position takes into account various factors influencing compensation decisions, such as skill sets, experience, training, and other business and organizational requirements. The salary listed within the specified ranges considers relevant experience. Our compensation philosophy at APS aims to maintain salaries at the midpoint of the market. As a result, we typically hire within the target starting range. Exceptional, rare cases may merit reviews above target starting range for specialized or niche skills aligned with strategic operational goals.

Hiring Range:

$57,489/year - $78,328/year (USD)

Target Starting Range:

$57,489/year - $63,956/year (USD)

Work Environment:

As noted above, APS offers a "Remote First" workplace. Although our Editorial Offices are located on Long Island, you can work from other places in the United States. We are flexible about work hours, but expect responsiveness during the core of the workday, Eastern Time.
