VP, Executive Creative Director

- Exhibition Development is the visionary leader steering the core creative team of creative directors, art directors, and experience designers in the creative development and articulation of future exhibitions, exhibition updates, and other special projects. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and working closely with the Chief Creative Strategy Officer and other key executive leaders to shape and design against the creative vision expanding the Meow Wolf Universe.This role is responsible for the development and success of the people, processes, and output of the creative department. You will guide our teams into a new era of creative practice that expands the opportunities for creative contributions while sharpening our integration of brand, art, story, and interactivity in the development and advancement of our physical spaces. You will be a champion for our creatives, while honing the output of our creative development process to align with creative strategy, overarching vision, and business needs.

The VP, Executive Creative Director - Exhibition Development will have an active role in all ongoing and future exhibition projects at an executive level, guiding and approving creative alignment to creative strategy, overseeing and having accountability for the project progress and success, and communicating project progress to company leadership.Job Responsibilities:You are an important contributor to the creative strategy and driver of the creative vision for Meow Wolf.You establish strategic alignment - Collaborate with leadership to integrate our creative pillars (art, story, interactivity, brand) with business needs. Define project-based creative strategies and goals to develop, design and implement exceptional exhibition experiences.You give creative guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring creative directors, art directors, and experience designers effectively articulate and implement against the defined creative strategies and goals.You put the participant at the center of the experience, evaluating and guiding the intersection of physical and digital art, technology, narrative content, and overall design to ensure meaningful and rewarding engagement.You create space for artistic development (creative messiness, art making, and creative expression) balancing and aligning it with the broader creative vision, goals and priorities of the project.You drive innovation by evaluating current creative execution against guest feedback, audience insights and future creative vision, building paths for evolution.You hold the creative perspective when evaluating and making decisions with consideration to operational, marketing and financial needs or constraints.You are relied upon by your executive peers because you are uniquely qualified in your role.You are highly creative, a strategic thinker with a passion for immersive art and experiences.You build and maintain relationships with fellow leaders, internal stakeholders, external partners, artists, and collaborators to foster a collaborative and supportive creative environment.You participate in the development of overarching organizational strategy and goals and deploy them into your department.As a key exhibition development executive leader, you collaborate on and are responsible for the strategy, goals, priorities, risks identification, and risk mitigation of exhibition projects, as well as the processes and structures that will optimize overall project delivery and the effectiveness of our project teams.You stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in the fields of art, technology, and immersive experiences, integrating new ideas and approaches into our creative work.You present updates to company executives and the Board of Directors, as well as to other departments.You instill excellence into the Creative Direction team and their creative practices.You supervise the creative direction department, consisting of creative directors, art directors, and experience designers. You are both their manager and their mentor.You lead the development and clarification of processes, practices, and tools that enable your people to deliver consistently excellent work on their projects.You hone the creative quality standards and the communication of those standards so that all our teams have confidence that they understand the company's expectations.You design, lead and contribute to creative reviews, charettes, pinups, desk critiques and other applicable types of creative assessment, discussions, feedback, and direction throughout the creative process.You manage department resources to insure availability of talent and continuity of workYou steadily communicate company goals and priorities to your department, and guide the application of them to your department's work.You create the internal pipeline for growth opportunities and leadership development of your team, and when required, you lead the hiring of best-in-class talent to bolster your team.You are an accessible and present leader, actively aware of all the projects' creative work, available for consultation for the teams, and the provider of compassionate, clear, and constructive feedback and direction.You provide effective individual feedback to your reports through substantive 1:1s and annual performance reviews, and other effective performance management strategies.You champion a culture of inclusion and belonging, feedback and recognition, transparency and communication, trust and collaboration, and delegation and empowerment.IMPACT:
