This is a leadership role, responsible for oversight of the material being offered, with a focus on increasing the quality of consignments to the Asian Art Department. The successful candidate will have 5-10 years of experience dealing in Asian Art, preferably at a major auction house, and will be familiar with the full cycle of auction activity including client development, sourcing material, vetting and estimating, oversight of catalogues and cataloguers work product, and selling the sale while increasing the company's brand within the category. Only people who are able to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment need apply.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Source quality consignments from collections, estates, and dealersTeam up with other colleagues working with Asian ArtParticipate in the expansion of the collector databaseMaintain involvement in the vetting process including estimatingAssist cataloguers with descriptions, condition reporting, and authentication where appropriate; oversee final productProof catalogs and proofread marketing materialsMarket-specific consignments to valued clientsNegotiate client terms or assist with collections where neededReview settlements and wiresEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:5-10 years of experience in Asian Art preferably at a major auction houseSKILLS AND ABILITIES:Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Word and ExcelAbility to multitask and pay great attention to detailMust have a positive attitude with exceptional customer service skillsPublic speaking talents are a plus!WORK ENVIRONMENT:Individuals must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
