Job Description

Working within a small team of engineers your duties and responsibilities will include designing and modifying extrusion screw designs as specified by the process department. Work closely with screw production department and the project management to produce effective designs and ensure that the customers’ expectations are met. Strong knowledge of GD&T is essential in this role. A background in machined components and machine design is desired as well as good time management skills.

Responsibilities

Work with Sales staff to help define / clarify machinery and screw specifications, suggest equipment, working with and creating standardsCollaborate with the engineering staff to produce design sketches and drawings in accordance with applicable standards. Accurately incorporate tolerances into design drawings.Review and verify design drawings and other technical documentation prepared by others to ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and functionWork closely with the process engineering departmentEnsure designs meet customer specificationsPrepare drawings for customer review and approvalMeasure existing or returned screws using a variety of instruments, document and create drawingMaintain and update documentation and standardsCollaborate with other departments on any issues that arise during the engineering, screw manufacturing or purchasingPerform other job duties as assignedQualifications

Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentAt least 3 years of experience with machinery designDemonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D screw designs and supporting drawingsProficiency with 3D modeling software optional, but not required (SolidWorks preferred)Experience creating engineering drawings for complex parts / assemblies, demonstrating strong geometric dimensioning and tolerancing practicesWorking knowledge of mechanical assemblies, materials, machining, fabrication and weldingAttention to detail and problem solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
