A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Sr. UX Designer II is an experienced senior team member contributing to the consumer-oriented user experience of Tandem’s medical devices and applications. They are responsible for generating inspired, innovative, elegant and highly usable interaction design solutions and plays a pivotal role in defining user experiences for new products and features.

Leads the design of world-class end-user interfaces focusing on designs that are clean, clear, effective and pleasing to the eye.

Works independently to document specifications that engineering will reference to implement for final end-user interface design.

Develops, refines, and evaluates design concepts and produces prototypes (visual wireframes, task flows, design screenshots, or interactive prototypes) to support evolving hardware and software application development.

Develops user profiles, with emphasis on human error control, display issues, visual interaction, physical manipulation and task and objective analyses.

Ensures visual interaction designs meet or exceed the group's creative and strategic missions.

Takes design concepts and develops them completely.

Emphasizes user design considerations in concept development as part of an interdisciplinary team including product development, advanced technology, marketing research, user experience research, and quality assurance.

Collaborates with peers and stakeholders to communicate design direction and refine the user interface and experience.

Develops and applies software design/usability processes in the investigation of technical problems.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

Expert knowledge of UX/UI design principles, design systems, best practices, and standards.

Strong visual design skills with familiarity with selecting color palettes and designing screen layouts and typography.

Proficiency in information layout and visual design principles.

Proven ability to design products that benefit consumers by being both pleasurable and easy to use.

A substantial understanding of graphic, web, and software design principles as well as the limitations associated with these environments.

An excellent eye for design detail.

An expert in UX software such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD. Experience in animation software such as Principle, LottieFiles or After Effects a plus.

Ability to communicate design ideas to stakeholders through concepts, workflows, and prototypes to collect feedback to iterate and improve designs.

Strong aptitude for taking input from multiple sources and for synthesizing it into coherent designs.

Skilled at presenting information in a clear, concise manner to all levels within the department.

Adept at moving easily between conceptual and detail design activities and translating business goals into intuitive designs which meet company standards.

Skilled at creating a cooperative team environment.

Skilled at contributing on a consistent basis to team initiatives in a thorough and timely manner.

Able to objectively evaluate situations and make recommendations for changes in light of overall project demands.

Able to react to changing situations in a timely, calm, and confident manner.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

BA in Interaction Design or related fine arts/graphic design field preferred or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.

MA in related field desirable.

8 years of experience designing consumer-oriented user interfaces for mobile devices, web applications, and/or desktop software (not website design).

Experience employing an iterative, user-centric design process.

Experience with participating in a full product development lifecycle.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $184,400 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts. You’ll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (accrual starts on day 1) and have access to a 401k plan with company match.
