Communications Consultant , you will ensure that institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts are effectively communicated, marketed, and aligned across the Medical College of Wisconsin. This role will create and manage institutional diversity communication planning efforts, coordinate several institutional diversity newsletters, manage intranet and external institutional diversity website(s), assist in narrative formation and storytelling, and provide direct support to institutional diversity programs.

The Communications Consultant will report directly to leadership within the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI), maintain a dotted line with the manager of internal communications in the Office of Communications & Brand Strategy, and partner with core partners, including the Center for the Advancement of Women in Science & Medicine (AWSM), the Office of Student Inclusion & Diversity, the Office of Community Engagement, and Organizational Development.An ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and writer, technically skilled, organized, values oriented, and an enthusiastic connector of people through meaningful ideas and intentional action. As assigned, this role will serve as the communications liaison to internal and external partners of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion.Responsibilities:Develop and manage communications and marketing plans for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion to advance institutional diversity and alignment efforts.Manage and provide content editing for the ODI and AWSM intranet websites.Work directly with MCW's web team to update and manage the ODI and AWSM external website.Lead and coordinate several institutional newsletters in support of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion and core partners.Write articles, news/spotlight stories, conduct interviews, video scripts, talking points, and take a proactive approach to assist in supporting and strengthening MCW's commitment to advance inclusion.Develop DEI marketing material, including flyers, promotional brochures, annual reports, briefing documents, signage/wayfinding, and others as needed.Leverage internal communications platforms inclusive of our email platform, digital communication signs and templates, distribution and mailing lists, ensuring branding standards and best practices are being followed.Ghostwrite, edit, and proofread copy for internal, external, and executive communications as needed. Assist with speech writing and talking point development.Provide direct communication and marketing support for institutional diversity programs, such as the President's Inclusive Excellence Award, the Women's Full Professor Ceremony, the Diverse Excellence Celebration, Business Resource Groups, and reoccurring ODI programming.Attend team meetings for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, the Office of Communications, and the Center for the Advancement of Women in Science & Medicine.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge - Skills - AbilitiesDemonstrated experience in developing and implementing communications plans and writing for a variety of purposes and audiencesExperience working and navigating in a complex, matrixed environment, working with a diverse group of stakeholdersExcellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to design and/or generate contentExperience developing and tracking the effectiveness of internal communications channels.Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skillsEfficient self-directed work, ability to remain focused, meet competing deadlines, and possess acute attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamDemonstrated experience in Microsoft Office programs; experience and advanced proficiency to prepare complex Power Point presentations. Demonstrated experience and use of a design programs such as Adobe Creative Suite or CanvaDemonstrated experience with email and website content management tools
