Department SummaryThe Department of Design in the College of the Humanities and Arts has openings for part-time, temporary instructors in Animation & Illustration, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, and Experience Design.Brief Description of DutiesWe seek instructors with a passion for teaching at the undergraduate level. Must have experience and/or potential for engaging and inspiring students and ensuring learning standards are met and/or exceeded. In addition to teaching during the designated class time, duties include holding regular weekly office hours, creating and evaluating student exams and assignments, and assigning grades. Positions start at the beginning of a semester and appointments may be renewed on a semester-by-semester basis, based on department need, funding, and performance.Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity-including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation-through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid).Required QualificationsMaster's degree or at least five years of professional experience.Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.CompensationCompensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience.
