A fully remote model may also be considered.This position is posted as Visual Brand Manager, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Marketing Manager.This position occasionally requires overtime to meet extremely tight project timelines.This position may occasionally require travel as needed.Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Marketing, the Brand Manager is a key member of the University Marketing Brand Management team responsible for safeguarding and elevating the university's visual brand identity. This role manages NAU’s visual brand program, spearheading the creation, implementation, and maintenance of compelling visual assets that align with brand strategy and enhance outreach initiatives. Working closely with the internal marketing team and various university departments, the Brand Manager ensures consistent visual representation of the NAU brand across all channels and campaigns. They develop and refine visual branding guidelines, ensuring that marketing executions across all university units are cohesive and effectively reinforce the NAU brand image. Through strategic visual management, the Brand Manager plays a crucial role in strengthening the university's overall brand presence and impact. Additionally, this position observes relevant industry trends to inform strategic decisions and communicates regularly with unit leadership and university partners to ensure alignment of the visual brand identity program across a diverse range of plans, workflows, and strategies, addressing and resolving any issues that arise.

Management and Development of NAU Brand’s Visual Identity - 70%

Collaborate with the Associate Vice President, Marketing to define, develop, and execute the university's visual branding strategy and program.Lead the management and development of visual standards and guidelines for the overall NAU brand ecosystem (including institutional brand, NAU sub-brands, and in relation to any affiliated brands).Lead the development of compelling visual assets for branding campaigns that align with the overall brand strategy.Oversee quality control of all visual assets by regularly reviewing brand materials across various campaigns and branding efforts to ensure NAU brand's visual consistency and integrity.Manage the creation, maintenance, and university-wide adherence of brand guidelines across all brand touchpoints.Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, internal marketing and communications professionals, and external agencies to produce high-quality visual content promoting the NAU brand.Manage and address visual brand-related issues and challenges, including NAU and its units' visual identity representation in merchandise and promotional items.Independently manage and execute visual brand-related initiatives and projects in collaboration with relevant parties and teams.Provide training and support to ensure understanding and proper implementation of the brand's visual identity across the university.Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in visual branding, both in the general consumer market and higher education industry, to maintain the brand's visual appeal and competitiveness.Continuously refine visual identity guidelines to adapt to evolving trends and business needs.Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities - 20%

Responsible for resource allocation decisions related to assigned areas of responsibility.Manages performance across a team of contracted resources.Defines and monitors associated KPIs of the key responsible areas listed above.Reports, presents, and promotes program outcomes to stakeholders and colleagues across the university.Develops and provides expertise/guidance to internal and intra-team processes and standards related to assigned areas of responsibility.Other - 10%

Additional duties as required for the effective operation of the marketing department.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field.2-4 years of relevant brand, marketing, or other relevant experience.1-2 years of management experience.Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Qualifications

Brand management experience.Extensive experience working within a brand system.Experience working with higher education institution brand(s).Experience working with Airtable.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

Expert knowledge of graphic design methods, techniques, and best practices for marketing communications, with particular emphasis on concepts and practices supporting brand-level, high-profile, and large-scale initiatives through a variety of media channels.Expert knowledge of creative tools and processes for various media, including digital applications.Expert knowledge of higher education policies related to brand visual identity.Expert knowledge of working within established institutional brands and related brand standards, as well as managing brand identity guidelines for large organizations or brands.Knowledge of advancements in visual design technologies, applications, and industry trends.Knowledge of current ADA accessibility standards and requirements concerning design.Knowledge of marketing project management practices, principles, and tools.Skills

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. Salary

Anticipated salary range is $62,996 - $78,745. Annual salarycommensurate with candidate's qualifications and relatedexperience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

Benefits

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus.Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service .Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following election.
