Job Description:

The Visual Database Modeler serves as the primary point of contact within the T-38 Training System Support Center (TSSC) for the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of visual databases utilized in the T-38 Aircrew Training Device (ATD) and Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) programs. This role is critical in ensuring that visual databases are current, accurate, and meet the operational needs of training systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:include, but are not limited to the following:Oversee the full lifecycle of visual databases, including the creation, modification, and updating of both existing and new databases to support T-38 ATD and CLS programs.Develop new or modify existing visual scenes and models as required to correct inherent discrepancies, enhance performance, and improve fidelity and reliability of visual databases.Ensure that visual databases meet stringent quality standards, providing realistic and immersive training environments for instructors and aircrew.Work closely with client representatives, subject matter experts (SMEs), other TSSC teams, third party contractors, and external stakeholders to gather requirements, implement changes, and ensure seamless integration of visual databases with training systems.Utilize advanced modeling tools and techniques to develop and refine visual databases, applying and staying current with the latest technological advancements and industry best practices available.Address and resolve technical issues related to visual databases, working proactively to minimize disruptions to training operations.Maintain detailed records of database changes, updates, and processes to ensure traceability and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.Maintain configuration control, archival backups, and system baselines for visual databases (VDBs).Prepare, implement, evaluate, and validate VDB-related requirements and modifications.Develop VDB test matrix and acceptance test procedures (ATP) to ensure accurate simulation is maintained and functions integrate seamlessly with all associated systems.Prepare distribution kits and installation instructions for site incorporation of system changes or upgrades and provide assistance as required.Develop and maintain full documentation for VDB system changes or upgrades in accordance with OEM documentation and program configuration management procedures.Support installation and acceptance testing of system modifications as required.Generate new 3D models and related enhancements, incorporate imagery and textures into associated visual scenes, and update existing scenes as necessary.Employ and maintain the Database Generation System (DBGS) to support aircrew training.Participate in program Working Groups as required to support aircrew training.Report to the Training System Support Center (TSSC) Manager.Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or a similar discipline with design experience in visual databases, or equivalent education, experience, and training.Two years of experience in developing flight simulation visual databases (VDB) for commercial or military pilot training applications.Experience with objects capable of 3DOF and 6DOF.Desired Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Virtual Reality Computer Graphics (VRCG), or a similar discipline with design experience in visual databases, or equivalent education, experience, and training.Four years of experience in developing flight simulation visual databases (VDB) for commercial or military pilot training applications.Proficient with objects capable of 3DOF and 6DOF.Qualifications:

Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Basic knowledge of Aircrew Simulation Training Systems.Familiarity with flight publications such as FAA Advisory Circulars, DOD VFR and IFR Supplements, In-flight Guides, and NGA Aeronautical Charts and Flight Information Publications (Flips).Basic proficiency in using personal computers and various software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, raid management applications, data library management applications (Perforce is a plus), and 3D visual database generation tools.Basic understanding of simulator systems, structure, mathematical models, and their implementation in real-time digital flight simulation.Basic experience with photo enhancement programs and database resource libraries, including National Geospatial-intelligence Agency (NGA), National Elevation Dataset (NED), National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP), Global Topographic Digital Elevation Model (GTOP) and associated data.Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.Language Skills:

Applicants must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and engineering drawings/specifications. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.

Reasoning Ability:

Applicants must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable.

Domestic travel as required.Must be able to lift 100lbs or more.Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery.Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of the DBGS and Scene Modeling Image Generators (SMIG), Image Generators (IG) and its their surrounding environments.Must be able to troubleshoot equipment upon failure.Work Environment :

Work in a regular office environment; communicate via military computer, telephone, and fax.Will be working in areas with a high risk of electrical shock and potential injury from moving electro-mechanical parts.Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.No teleworking.
