OverviewNYSUT is seeking an experienced, energetic and creative graphic designer to serve as a primary member of our communications team for a full time on-site position. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for the design and production of various communication materials for NYSUT, including publications, newsletters, mailers and all manner of digital graphics. This role requires a creative and detail-oriented professional capable of conceptualizing and executing design projects that align with our branding and communication strategies.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign & production of NYSUT publications, newsletters, mailers, digital graphics, emails, and other similar communications media.Conceptualize and design campaign items, publications, and media communications.Collaborate across departments and locals regarding branding, marketing, content, and the creation of different forms of media.Design information sheets, brochures and other print materials.Work on core branding and production of branded items such as signage, business cards, and other core brand collateral materials.Assist digital communications teams with graphic needs for digital advertising and social media.Assist with design and creation of video projects.Assist NYSUT and outside clients with printing project planning and execution.Select and organize all design elements (i.e. font, colors, etc.).Develop and maintain knowledge of the use of current relevant technology, software, and printing procedures.Provide and prepare files for printers.Ensure accuracy, consistency, archiving, and quality control of digital files.Potential long or irregular hours, weekend hours, and travel.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.QualificationsMinimum of 6 years of experience in professional graphic designBachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field.Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design software, specifically the Adobe Creative Suite.Demonstrated understanding of digital and print design best practices.Experience with layout and production of print and digital editorial materials.Strong understanding of design principles, branding best practices, typography, and color theory.Experience with print production and knowledge of printing processes.Experience working with photographs to enhance and modify them as needed for various applications.Ability to conceptualize and execute creative ideas.Strong attention to detail and quality control.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
