Job Title:

ReceptionistJob Description:

Provides reception services for the West Burlington Campus and operates the college telephone system for all SCC sites. Also provides limited clerical services. Duties include, but are not limited to: guest reception, telephone systems operation, and clerical tasks.This is a full-time position with an hourly wage of $15.00. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, $50,000 life insurance, long-term disability, paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid spring and holiday breaks and participation in IPERS or TIAA retirement plan.Responsibilities:Demonstrate commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.Follow College policies and procedures.Maintain college telephone switchboard system.Project a knowledgeable and positive image when greeting visitors to the College and responding to inquiries.Provide general administrative and marketing support for the marketing office.Manage college general promotional item efforts.Provide occasional overflow support for the Admissions & Testing office.Contact students and staff via phone, email, or in person as directed.Provide occasional clerical support for internal departments.Serve as lost and found center.Monitor emergency weather notification warning system.Monitor security cameras and alert appropriate staff or security as needed.Provide clerical services to faculty and staff as directed.Serve as contact person regarding vending machine malfunctions.Maintain instructor absentee online list.Distribute materials to students as requested.Work closely with maintenance staff and campus security for monitoring and management of fire/emergency alarm system.Handle and receive money transactions as needed.Coordinate relief for phone coverage as needed.Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience:

Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, strong customer service skills, and experience showing initiative to complete tasks in an unsupervised setting.Ability to:

Operate and maintain standard office equipment, problem-solve, maintain confidentiality, work with diverse backgrounds, and familiarity with SCC and the mission of a community college.Preferred Qualifications:Education:

AA degree or AAS in Office Administration or business administration preferred.Experience:
