The Social Media Coordinator - Mavs Off Court will focus on Community Relations, culture marketing, Mavs Foundation and Mavs Take Action initiatives on Mavs Off Court social media platforms by ideating, creating, publishing and tracking highly engaging social media content.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of how people digest and engage with social content, an eye for detail and stay up to date on cultural trends and industry best practices. The Social Media Coordinator -Mavs Off Court is passionate about being active in the community and loves to tell stories that we don’t see on the court. The coordinator will report to the Senior Social Media Manager and will collaborate with the entire content team around Mavs Off Court coverage during games, events, tentpole moments and more.

JOB FUNCTION:Manage Mavs Off Court accounts, with a focus on creating new content for the platform and working with internal departments (Community, Marketing, Mavs Take Action, etc) on best practices for publishing their social contentIdeate and execute new and exciting opportunities on Mavs Off Court, integrating the city of Dallas and anything our organization or staff is doing off the courtDevelop a brand voice and tone for Mavs Off Court and elevate the platform’s brandServe as the community manager for Mavs Off Court social, finding unique and innovative ways to cultivate, sustain and engage existing and new audiencesDevelop and implement social strategy for Mavs Off CourtLead meetings with Sponsorship and marketing departments on content execution; track content requirements for fulfillmentStay on top of social media trends and integrate new opportunities for the Mavs Off Court social presenceAttend and cover all Mavericks community events, all home games and other teamevents, with the goal to share compelling content that captures attention

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function as well as the following:Understanding of the current and emerging social media platforms and trendsExperiences with social media measurement toolsExperience with Adobe Creative SuiteKnowledge of the NBA and the Mavericks, including performance and stats, industry trends and basketball culture, as well as well versed in pop culture and trendsVersatile interpersonal skills and professionalism to work across multiple environments and departments, including interactions with playersDetail oriented with track record of managing multiple projects at once and meeting deadlinesAbility to work autonomously, but also able to sync accordingly with full cross-department planningAbility and availability to work nights, weekends, some holidays, all 82 games, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

2-3 years’ experience working in social media, community relations or digital media
