The job of Marketing and Communications Specialist is done for the purpose of providing a variety of administrative supports to the Director of Marketing and Communications as well as helping improve communication efficiencies, strengthen strategic partnerships, branding, and marketing efforts within the DCIU.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssists in the development of marketing and communications for the DCIU, for the purpose of strengthening ties between DCIU programs and services and school districts and stakeholders to enhance DCIU services.Design and create online marketing content, including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, and promotional emails.Collaborate with design and marketing and communication teams to create white papers, infographics, and marketing videos.Identify the effectiveness of marketing and communication materials by tracking metrics including conversion rates and stakeholder satisfaction.Assess the return on investment (ROI) for marketing and communication campaigns.Network with potential customers and industry professionals to grow brand awareness and promote the DCIU’s programs and services.Assist in the development and implementation of strategic communications and marketing campaigns for the purpose of achieving defined objectives set by the Executive Director and Director of Marketing and Communications.Communicate with various outlets, including legislators, for the purpose of arranging press coverage, promoting services, supporting programs, and maintaining a current media contact list.Deliver and monitor content via newsletters, social media, email, and other vehicles for the purpose of communications and increasing awareness of DCIU’s brand, visibility, and value.Prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, feature articles, and other materials (e.g., letters, memorandums, minutes, charts, periodic and ad-hoc reports, etc.) to improve DCIU's visibility and communications and marketing as well as documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.Identify fresh story ideas and write and edit media materials (e.g., press releases, newsletters, videos, and multimedia presentations, etc.) for the purpose of communicating and marketing events and new developments within the DCIU.Assist in the planning of a wide range of events, including fundraisers, recognition programs, competitions, and meetings for the purpose of maintaining goodwill and furthering DCIU’s mission.Support divisional teams in project management, tools, and documents to support organizational initiatives. Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off for projects and initiatives.Collaborate with marketing and communications teams across divisions to define and implement innovative solutions for product direction, branding, visuals, and user experience.Maintain a variety of databases (e.g., calendars, schedules, and event registration, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating projects to ensure accuracy and necessary completion.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in a job-related area (including communications, public relations, government relations).Experience Required:

Job-related experience. At minimum, a good knowledge of communications and marketing, social media, and the best ways to utilize each platform, effective communication both verbally and in writing.Experience Preferred:

Two years of job-related experience.
