Summer Youth Musical Theatre Program & Stage Director

Description:NEMPAC is seeking a Summer Youth Music Theatre Director for four weeks of full day, in-person workshops for a children's program ages 5 - 9. Students enrolled commit to a full-day program from 9 am - 4 pm. The students rotate in smaller groups through music, dance, theatre, and arts programming during the day. The teacher will stage a short script to the song selections made by the Music Director and/or Choreographer. The teacher will also manage and mentor 2-4 interns who have the capabilities to assist stage direct and/or stage manage. The teacher will be responsible for collaborating with the other staff, holding at least one pre-camp production meeting as well as communication with parents during the week. The teacher should love directing children, know how to keep the programming fun for all involved, work well with students ages 5 - 9, be an excellent communicator, and have experience as a children's stage director. Access to practice space, and discounted tuition in any of our programs.Responsibilities:Communicate with parents which include: welcome email two weeks prior to the program start with full details of the week’s activities, emails three times/week that include daily wrap-ups with pictures from the day and schedule for the next day, show reminders, activities of the day updates, etc.Stage and direct weekly musical showsCreate programs and props for each weekly show, with the assistance of teen interns.Meet and manage support staff daily (1 morning music director, 1 afternoon choreographer, 2-4 high school interns)Mentor & delegate tasks and projects to interns as needed.Ensure Summer Workshop policies are always met and followedCreate and run daily rehearsal schedules and oversee all activities & classroom managementEnsure the safety of all students and staffNotify NEMPAC of any facility needs, concerns, or challengesQualifications:Skilled in teaching students between 5-9, with excellent classroom management skills.Have prior musical theatre or theatre teaching/directing experience and be committed to promoting the growth of their students.Have exceptional communication and organizational skills.Passion for music, theatre, and arts education.A positive and fun attitude!Have flexibility to changes in schedule, can work in a fast-paced environmentAn undergraduate degree in education, music, theatre, musical theatre, theatre education, music education or arts education is preferred.
