Career Opportunities with Missouri Southern State UniversityA great place to work.Careers At Missouri Southern State UniversityCurrent job opportunities are posted here as they become available.Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Admissions and Enrolment, the Director of Marketing serves as the university’s chief marketing officer, supervising staff, budgets and programs in the Office of University Relations and Marketing (URM). The director’s primary responsibility is to lead strategic brand positioning and development of marketing campaigns to advance Missouri Southern, most notably in new student recruitment. The director will work closely with leadership from across the institution to elevate and refine the University’s marketing and branding.Upon beginning work, the Director of Marketing will conduct a thorough audit of current marketing initiatives to understand the existing strategy and then identify opportunities to further enhance the University’s reputation. Ultimately, the director will take the lead in framing a comprehensive marketing and branding strategy for MSSU that achieves the University’s strategic plan goals, most notably in the areas of enrollment and community engagement.Key Responsibilities:Build and manage an outstanding strategic marketing and branding program which can be considered best-in-class compared to its peers in higher education.Create and implement innovative, creative, and proactive marketing campaigns with a unified messaging extending across all media, platforms, and vehicles.Evaluate the effectiveness and success of MSSU’s positioning and brand with different internal and external audiences on an ongoing basis.Strategically invest time and resources in market research, competitive landscape analysis, brand and marketing refinement, and creative execution.Build strong, collaborative, and collegial relationships with campus leaders, both academic and administrative.Collaborate closely with the Offices of the President, Admissions, Development, and Intercollegiate Athletics.Set clear direction and priorities for the staff in the Office of University Relations and Marketing.Oversee and manage events like Third Thursday, Green and Gold Tours, etc.Perform other related duties as required.Education, Experience, and LicensesA bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required, with a master’s degree preferred. Experience envisioning and implementing successful strategic marketing and branding programs is required, preferably in higher education. Preference is given to those candidates with exceptional knowledge of the latest digital and integrated marketing tools with experience leveraging internal skill.Also preferred is a record of success as an innovative and collaborative leader in large, complex, mission-driven organizations. A solid understanding of the advantages and drawbacks of both traditional and digital media is necessary, as well as the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience with event planning is also required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external constituencies.Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.Strong analytical skills including the ability to assess and solve complex problems.High level of organization and attention to detail.Excellence in project management overseeing large, cross-functional organization-wide projects or initiatives.Personal qualities of integrity, professionalism, good judgment, and a strong work ethic.Commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and positively contributing to a campus climate that supports success for students, faculty, and staff.Ability and willingness to work in a high-paced environment.Attendance at a significant number of university and external meetings and events, sometimes during evenings or weekends.Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
