Morning Video Editor

Straight Arrow News is looking for a video editor to help bolster our morning digital news output. Our reporters and producers need a video specialist who can create elegant, crisp news video elements for our website and social media channels.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssemble and deliver VO and SOT elements for news packagesEdit vertical video segments for social media channelsRe-purpose 16x9 video timelines into vertical formatSearch and acquire video/images/sound for use in videoProvide trims and fixes to recordings in studio when necessarySelect and provide “featured images” for social media platforms and websiteQualificationsProficient editing video in Adobe Premiere timelines with multiple video/audio/graphics layersGood organizational skills with regards to project & media managementStrong computer skills, ability to navigate Windows and Mac interfacesUnderstanding of visual composition/framingKnowing which images qualify as strong, purposeful, accurate, intentional, and fair.Strong attention to detail and pride in precision for all aspects of the jobSelf-starter, proactive in problem solvingUnderstanding of motion graphics over videoNews background preferred, via school or previous employmentEagerness to work in a fast-paced newsroom environment with a patient and calm demeanorEqual Opportunity Employer Statement: Straight Arrow News is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
