HDR Engineering is looking for a Bridge Designer to join our St. Louis team. The Bridge Designer will be expected to perform structural design on bridges and walls and occasional field work such as bridge inspection and construction observation.In the role of Bridge Designer, we'll count on you to:Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designsWork on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projectsPerform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity developmentSelect standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized softwareParticipate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity developmentPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferredNew graduate candidates considered; additional bridge/structural design experience will also be consideredMust be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge inspection, roadway design, hydraulic analysis, stream restoration, planning, construction services, environmental) within the office.Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and other DOT design guidelines considered a plus.Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment on a wide range of projects.Required QualificationsMS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD, LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design experienceFamiliarity
