Performs a variety of customer service, circulation, and/or technical services duties to ensure quality library service and a positive library atmosphere. The library Adult Programming/Outreach will also assist with other library tasks as needed.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSProvides services in a timely, sensitive, and confidential manner, consistent with a high level of customer service.Leads Library’s efforts in reaching and serving diverse user population.Responsible for adult and community outreach programming, planning, and execution.Collects and reports statistics and stories around adult programming/outreach efforts.Member of the programming team: helps other programming staff brainstorm, plan, and put on a wide variety of programs for adults, children, and families.Ability to work well with all kinds of people, from a wide range of ages and interests.Participate in marketing efforts around all library programming, with emphasis on collecting, collating, and maintaining promotional materials for library events.Promotes interest in library as community resource by visiting and speaking to school, civic and social organizations.Represents the library via outreach and as a community liaison.Assists in seeking partnerships with area agencies, businesses, and organizations through active involvement and marketing of the library.Assists patrons with computer, tablet, and other technologies.Keeps current through professional development and literature to evaluate trends.Performs routine library services, including those of the Library Assistant when needed.Serves as Notary.Covers other areas of the library when needed, including weekend rotation and evening coverage when needed.Works with limited supervision.Assists with weeding collection of worn-out and obsolete materials, as needed.Attends workshops, seminars, and other educational & professional meetings to acquire new skills.Performs other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.ALA-accredited program or equivalent library experience.Experience with an online integrated library system and the OCLC system.One (1) year of relative work experience.Licenses or Certifications:

Notary Certificate.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of general office procedures.Ability to interact with library patrons courteously and effectively is vital.Skill in cash handling.Ability to use established concepts, practices, and procedures.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.Ability to adapt to changing and evolving Library procedures, priorities, and information technologies.Good knowledge of professional library theories, issues, and trends.Must be able to work independently and be self-directed.Knowledge of basic computer skills and able to access e-mail and Library internet.Ability to interact with co-workers and establish effective working relationships.Ability to possess the integrity to maintain confidential information or data.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
