The DepartmentInformation about the French Program in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures:The purpose of the French major is to enable students to attain an advanced level of competency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and to provide them with a comprehensive knowledge of the historic and contemporary culture and institutions of France and the francophone world.

Duties of the PositionTeach undergraduate French courses as needed at all levels of French language and French/francophone culture, history, and literature. Must be able to work with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and students to create an inclusive environment.

Professional QualificationsRequired:

M.A. in FrenchTwo years of university teachingNative or near-native fluency in spoken and written FrenchPreferred:

Ph.D. or ABD in French or Comparative Literature

Rank and SalaryFull-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month.Temporary Faculty appointments are made on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon department needs and funding.Relocation expenses will not be provided for temporary faculty appointments.
