The Department

Information about the German Program in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures:

Students may earn a German minor or add one or two semesters of language study to boost graduate school and job applications. The program provides students with a stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Duties of the Position

Teach undergraduate German courses at all levels and General Education courses in English about literature, cinema, or the history and cultures of German-speaking countries. Must be able to work with diverse groups to create an inclusive environment and offer weekly student hours for support.

Professional Qualifications

Required:

M.A. in German, German Studies, or Comparative Literature (or related field)Two years of university teaching in GermanNative or near-native fluency in spoken and written German

Preferred:

Ph. D. or ABD in German, German Studies, or Comparative Literature

Rank and Salary

Full-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month.
