Overview:As the Product Design Lead on the Wealth Digital Design team, you will lead and participate in the design process and engagement around our Client & Advisor Digital Platforms to deliver simple, stable and secure experiences. You will build strong relationships with business and tech partners and provide thought leadership, design strategy, and drive the formation and delivery of experience visions for these critical platforms. You will lead and mentor product designers, by setting and upholding quality bars, deepening skillsets, managing capacity, facilitating working sessions and leading the refinement and planning of all design work.Primary Responsibilities:Be the driving force for the day-to-day operations and success of the team.Create and deepen trusting relationships with key partners (PO’s, Tech Leads, and others).Leverage deep experience and knowledge in product design (Information Architecture, Interaction Design, UI Design) to coach, mentor and guide team – owning ceremonies such as design review, cultivating healthy discourse and critique.Be accountable to team and business level Objectives and Key Results and set the team up to succeed in meeting them.Confidently understand the people, products and services we are designing for, and an aspiration to understand the wealth business, strategy and ecosystem.Participate and collaborate with partners to define product strategy, vision, breakdown and planning of work, as well as delegation.Provide feedback on team’s approaches, processes and outputs.Work in collaboration with manager and business partnerships to enhance the operational processes for the broader workflow.Be proactive and self-motivated, outcome-oriented, and have a bias toward action.Bring an evidence-based perspective, offering thought leadership and confidence to the team and our partners.Facilitate internal marketing of team success - by preparing and sharing a variety of content (visuals, narratives, etc.) on team accomplishments, learnings and wins on a regular basis.Proactively own, prepare for, participate in and represent the team in ceremonies, planning, share-outs and other relevant forums.Demonstrate expertise in UI, Interaction Design and Information Architecture as core skillsets.Conduct oneself with responsibility, integrity, accountability, and excellence.Communicate effectively and appropriately and exhibit a high level of professionalism.Advocate for the customer perspective at any level of the organization with confidence and charisma.Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:Lead, mentor, and potentially manage a team.Education and Experience Required:Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or similar, and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years education and/or relevant/product design work experience.Experience designing complex and data-heavy enterprise digital experiences.Project and people management skills; experience functioning as a project leader as well as an individual contributor.Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and other similar tools used widely in the design community.Proficiency in industry best practices for desktop, mobile and web applications.Ability to establish strong collaborative working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders.Education and Experience Preferred:Proven expertise in Product/Human-Centered Design, with a strong foundation of UX principles, patterns and best practices.Experience working in a regulated environment and partnering with groups such as legal, risk, compliance and regulatory.Experience creating use cases, flow diagrams, prototypes, scenarios and wireframes to communicate ideas and designs to diverse groups of stakeholders.Understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different design thinking methods, including when and how to apply them during product design/development processes.Hands-on experience of designing for a variety of digital touchpoints and non-digital channels and supporting the delivery of those designs.Experience managing programs supporting the full product development process, from vision to launch to iteration.Strong ability to mentor and educate others on the value and principles of good experience design.Team player who is comfortable navigating ambiguity within a self-directed culture.Extensive experience conducting remote and in-person workshops; strong familiarity with supporting tools such as Miro and Webex.Experience with accessibility standards, cross-platform issues, mobile user interfaces and systems-thinking.Work Arrangement:This will be a hybrid position (part in-office/part remote) that includes time spent working in-office at an M&T Bank office location, preferably in the Buffalo, NY or Wilmington, DE areas. Depending upon the location of the final candidate and the needs of the team the position might be hybrid or possibly remote within the M&T Bank footprint (CT, DE, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT, VA or DC), with travel required as referenced below.As the Digital Experience Team in a community bank, we believe that our “office” may be anywhere our customers and employees live, work and play. So, while some team members may not be required to come into an office on a set schedule, we are expected to engage in purposeful, in-person collaboration and to be active participants in the M&T community and the communities we serve. This may require quarterly to monthly travel within the M&T Bank footprint.Location:Buffalo, New York, United States of America
