Smithers PDS LLC (Pharmaceutical Development Services) assists in the development of new medicines by providing bioanalytical services for all phases of drug development from discovery through approval and post market surveillance. PDS works with customers to develop new methods, validate existing methods, as well as performing the assays necessary to analyze samples from patients on more than 100 clinical trials currently in different phases of the FDA regulated drug approval process. Our expert scientists perform large molecule bioanalysis, assay development, validation, and sample analysis at our GLP, GCP, and CLIA compliant laboratories. This is an exciting time to join our team as we grow and expand our Gaithersburg, MD and Ewing, NJ laboratories.Smithers is looking for a Marketing Manager who will direct Smithers' digital marketing, market research/analysis, brand, and media/PR efforts for Pharmaceutical Development Services Division. In addition, this role will partner with Human Resources to foster and support a culture of engagement and a robust candidate pipeline through internal and external communication efforts. This role is designed for an engaged, driven, “roll-up-your-sleeves” leader who can influence, build trust, collaborate, and deliver.Primary responsibilities for this role are

sales enablement

(collaborating and partnering with the sales team to arm them with the messaging, information, client interactions / relationships, and tools they need to be successful),

demand creation

(creating a predictable stream of truly qualified leads that support the funnel forecast), and

engagement support

(collaborating and partnering to enhance internal and external communications). You will work closely with sales, operations, human resources, and leadership.The Marketing Manager will embody a strong personal character coupled with a broad business acumen and marketing experience. The five pillars of success in this role include: 1) digital marketing 2) brand building 3) media and PR communications 4) market research/analysis 5) client interactions/support.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Plans and implements integrated lead generation campaigns and messaging for the target market segments.Partners with operations/technical experts/scientists to produce content (white papers, success stories, case studies).Attend networking events and build industry connections to facilitate business growth.Actively participates in and is a resource to support the business’ culture and communications initiatives.Partners with human resources to enhance communications internally and externally to support both the employee and candidate engagement and experience.Oversee branding and marketing endeavors to ensure all efforts are aligned with business goals; owns and protects the Smithers brand through a fierce “one brand, one experience” mindset.Works with other department heads to determine company goals and KPIs.Creates and publishes marketing materials (brochures, sell sheets, solution briefs) including sales presentations.Monitors and reports on effectiveness of marketing programs.Partners with division and the Smithers group leadership to assist with entrance into new service offerings or market segments.Builds and manages the marketing budget, delivering marketing activity within the agreed budget.Meets with business and operations leaders to create strategic marketing plan in support of funnel and revenue objectives.Develops and implements tactical marketing programs in conjunction with sales, and external influencers such as user groups and industry trade associations.Communicates program status, action items, and deliverables across leadership, operations, and sales.Understands business management and operations, including finance/revenue/pipeline principles. Participates in regular pipeline and forecast review meetings.Engages existing and prospective clients through face-to-face interactions to gain firsthand understanding of their business needs. Supports sales by attending and presenting at client meetings. Gathers voice of customer (VOC) and incorporates it into marketing activities.Grasps technical and strategic understanding of testing, technology, applications, and industry solutions being marketed.Undertakes continuous analysis of competitive environment, regulations, and trends within existing and growth service offerings.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field.Advanced Degree (Master’s or MBA) preferred.Minimum three years’ experience in B2B marketing or business development.Experience in pharmaceutical, contract research organization (CRO), laboratory services is a significant advantage.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Adept with building an exceptional and engaging presence on various networking platforms.Possess a collaborative mindset and works well as part of a team.Superior time management abilities and capable of meeting deadlines.Excellent organizational skills and the ability to move quickly between tasks while ensuring quality.Ability to build strong relationships with clients and industry contacts.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:~25% domestic travel
