Industrial Designers

are critical members of Thule’s global team. As an Industrial Designer, you will be tasked with developing top-tier design concepts that progress the Thule and Case Logic brands. The main responsibilities of the Industrial Designer are to conduct on-going design and market research, collect and communicate design insights to cross-disciplinary project teams, explore and refine product concepts, work with the Development Team and Category Managers throughout concept and development phases, ensure product cost targets and design intent are met, and contribute knowledge and creative problem-solving skills to support the overall growth of the Thule and Case Logic brands. Be an advocate for design by bringing creativity, a collaborative mindset, and excitement.This position will work on both Thule and Case Logic branded soft-goods. Understanding the design DNA of each brand and working to ensure that each product line supports the brand promise and aesthetic differences between them will be of critical importance.Create compelling products and collections by utilizing a design process based upon user research, market and competitive analysis, concept exploration and refinement, and prototyping.Meet project goals set forth by product management, including target costs, feature set requirements, desired user experience, and sample deadlines.Own the product design process, and seek to add value at every opportunity.Have the ability to adjust design processes to meet required timelines.This position will be responsible for creating highly detailed and accurate specification drawings with a demonstrated understanding of bag construction and details.Communicate

Champion your ideas! Create energy and excitement for Product Design.Sell ideas internally with well-communicated research, well-reasoned design decisions, and excellent visual aids.Partner with internal stakeholders across all Thule offices to create functional, beautiful, and fantastic products that can be successful all over the world.Create illustrations, sketches, renderings, dimensioned drawings, and prototypes sufficient to communicate product ideas and sample requirements to Product Management, Product Development, and vendors.Be a member of the team

Be a team player.Be an advocate for design across all categories and defend Thule and Case Logic brand standards and positioning.Collaborate with and support the internal Development, Sourcing, and Engineering Teams to create manufacturable and cost-efficient products.Work with and support Product Management, the Design Manager, Product Development, and the rest of the design staff as needed to meet brand and product goals.RECOMMENDED POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design (BSID, BFA).Minimum of 4 years experience as a softgoods designer with a track record of compelling, progressive, and successful products.Must present an impressive portfolio demonstrating design research, an ability to identify key insights, concept exploration and refinement, and execution of design intent in the final product.Strong sketching abilities (analog and digital) to communicate ideas, illustrate user experiences, explore form and function, and refine concepts.Strong sense of form, color, material, finishes, and construction.Expert with design-related software, mainly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Procreate, and experience with Microsoft PowerPoint. Solidworks, AutoCAD, Rhino, CLO 3D, Gravity Sketch skills a plus.Ability to craft product specification drawings/tech packs that ensure a complete, detailed, and accurate sample build.Strong knowledge of cut and sew materials and processes, including: laminations, welding, sewing, foams, fabrics, and trims.Working knowledge of plastics, metals, foams, and associated manufacturing processes.Experience with designing and developing products, materials, and hardware with eco-consciousness in mind a plus (Bluesign, Oeko-Tex, recycled and sustainable materials, etc).Experience working directly with overseas vendors to realize concepts that meet price targets, are designed with manufacturing in mind, and execute design intent.Have an ability to manage multiple products/projects and work independently.Willingness to travel internationally as needed (less than 10%).Benefits and Salary (CO):This is an on-site position based in our Longmont, CO office. The typical work hours for this position are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000.
