Herberger Online Learning at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts is currently seeking a Graphic Design Specialist PRN to work with the internal team and faculty to design, create, develop, and deliver creative design and layout for Herberger Online’s learning applications, as well as all online courses in Music, Art, Design, and Film. Responsible for supporting overall design and graphic design efforts related to media creation, course templates, and video treatments. Functions as a creative designer and producer, and graphic designer working with the internal team and clients to create online courses and related media assets.

$23.86-$25.00 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties

Designs, illustrates, and prepares layouts for video, motion graphics, UX/UI interactions, graphic and print media.Coordinates with stakeholders, faculty, and internal team all design activities related to course development and learning applications.Creates design frameworks and layouts for multimedia, course, and software application design.Uses a variety of standard software applications for graphic design and multimedia design including audio, video, print, and web software applications.Supports creative concept development and design process.Creates design standards and best practices for quality and consistency.Conducts QA.Works with internal team clients, faculty on design layouts.Works with instructional designer to produce online courses using HTML, video, motion graphics, and graphic design.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field AND four (4) years of experience in graphic design and/or website design; OR, eight (8) years of experience in graphic design and/or website design; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

Experience working with clients and/or teams and stakeholders in the areas of design, multimedia, and online education.Demonstrated knowledge of online learning methodologies specific to higher education for the arts.Experience in designing and developing online course media including audio, video, graphic, and digital assets.Experience working with graphic designers, instructional designers, instructors, and courseware developers.Evidence of effective communication skills.Experience in work that requires organizational skills and attention to detail.Experience working independently, following directions, and multi-tasking.Demonstrated knowledge of how individual efforts contribute to organizational goals.Experience in basic applications in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.Experience with standard editing software (audio/video).Experience with website development and a demonstrated proficiency in HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery.Experience with Mac OSX and presentation software.Experience designing multimedia elements for media-rich art courses and proprietary learning management systems.Demonstrated knowledge of Online Learning methodologies specific to higher education.Demonstrated knowledge of project management, workflow, and establishing priorities in a media production environment.Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.Ability to interview, video, and/or record individuals in conjunction with project work.Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.Regular review of completed tasks.
