Qualifications

Required Qualifications

8+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code

OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code

OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code

OR equivalent experience

2+ years people management experience

Preferred Qualifications

Engineering experience working with front-end technologies

Proven experience leading teams of UX Engineers, preferably within a design organization

A passion for design and technology and the desire to blend these areas together to create innovative solutions

Attention to detail, with the ability to match red-lines and design specs

A deep understanding of core front-end technologies especially HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript

Proven experience translating design comps into accessible experiences

Ability to collaborate and work effectively cross-functionally with other teams (Design, Research, Engineering, PM)

GitHub or other links showcasing your development skills OR a UI/UX portfolio is required

Experience working through ambiguity and competing priorities

Experience working with HTML custom elements or Web Component libraries (lit, FAST, etc.) preferred

Passion for invention, human-computer interaction, and seamless user experiences

Previous experience or knowledge in the Design Systems space

Working knowledge of visual design tools such as Figma

A desire to find out how things work and how to make them better

The ability to wear many hats and contribute across disciplines

Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of designers and developers

Solid brainstorming skills, from participation to leadership

An interest in web-standards, technology, and trends, with an eye toward the future

Responsibilities

Partner with our Brand and Design System team to help ensure design excellence in our process, workflows, and what we deliver to customers.

Coordinate planning and execution of technical projects with design, engineering, and PM teams.

Inspire, grow, and manage a team of UX engineers at different levels of experience and skill sets.

Get your hands dirty in code, turning designs into accessible, performant, and shippable production code.

Offer constructive feedback in the design and engineering process followed by creative and effective solutions.

Communicate to stakeholders when technology constraints require design or engineering compromises.

Follow best practices and provide code review feedback to your peers.

Collaborate with others to bring ideas to life and create prototypes.

Evangelize, document, and teach our engineering partners about the capabilities of the Design System.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Partner and collaborate with our Fluent UI Design and Engineering counterparts.

UX Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
