With existing coverage in 45 markets and counting across North America, The Athletic is officially expanding into the United Kingdom.About the RoleWe are looking for a Content Analyst who will work closely with all departments of the company to help understand how our content drives the business forward. As a content analyst, you will identify the types of content that resonate most with our audiences and deliver these insights to our teams.ResponsibilitiesProvide regular feedback and insights to the newsroom and work with writers to hit business goals.Flag and promote over-performing content to optimize paid/organic marketing.Understand the editorial process and identify what makes a piece of content strong.Create a content strategy plan based on the performance of existing content.Accept new responsibilities and develop new parts of the business.Develop new dashboards independently and partner with the data team for complex tables.Work with large cross-functional groups to understand problems and provide recommendations.RequirementsPreferred Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or other quantitative field.3+ years of prior experience in a data scientist or content analyst role.Extensive knowledge of the UK sports media landscape.Ability to read through articles across all sports and identify characteristics for each story.Ability to consolidate findings and communicate analysis to the editorial team effectively.Must be proficient in SQL and Excel.Preferred experience with Python, R, or another scripting language.Ability to multitask and self-manage projects.Ability to quickly ramp up on new projects and deal with ambiguous problems.Ability to deliver constructive analysis and meet tight deadlines.The position is based in the UK and you’d be expected to be in the London office 2-3 days a week ideally.The Athletic Media Company is an equal opportunity employer and enthusiastically encourages people from all backgrounds and experiences to apply.
