About the Role

As the Product Marketing Manager, you’ll work as a key cross-functional leader owning competitive research, positioning, go-to-market, and adoption for new products and features that generate revenue from The Athletic’s external partnerships.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage a suite of scalable sponsorship solutions and custom partnership opportunities to monetize non-subscription surfaces, including editorial, newsletter, audio, and off-platform surfaces.

Execute go-to-market strategy to launch and accelerate adoption of new audience features to drive awareness, growth, and engagement with sports fans across various channels.

Embed closely with the Product, Ad Sales, Editorial Operations, Design, Marketing, and Finance teams to define sponsorship opportunities and develop pre-sales and post-sales implementation processes.

Lead the creation of best-in-class product + sales marketing sponsorship resources including Sales Decks, Product Guides, and Media Kits.

Support Ad Sales team with sponsorship pitches and serve as the product expert for any sales inquiries or brainstorm requests.

Understand audience needs & serve as the voice of the customer throughout the sponsorship development process.

Requirements

4+ years’ experience in a consumer product marketing or ad product marketing role.

Experience working in highly cross-functional, fast-moving environments.

Strong understanding of product development processes.

Experience working directly with sales organizations, either as a marketer or client.

Deep understanding of consumer insights, user research, and business metrics.

Familiarity with sports, journalism, advertising, and/or subscription products is a plus.
