Geographic Communications Manager

located in

Midland, MI ! In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing integrated, multi-channel internal and external communications plans that protect, build and drive Dow’s reputation and brand with key stakeholder groups in a country or at a site; support business objectives and priorities and drive growth; drive competitive advantage through policy and political advocacy as well as issue resolution; foster relationships and build goodwill for Dow at community levels; and drive employee engagement and alignment.This will require in-depth conceptual and working knowledge of your discipline or functional area. You will need to understand your discipline's best practices and how they relate to others. You may need to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements as well as serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. You should also be able to explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus with others.It is your responsibility to analyze and resolve complex problems, examine information from multiple sources, and use judgement to evaluate established and new solutions. Your performance impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your own team and other related teams and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement targeted integrated communication plans supporting corporate business priorities as well as country/site-specific objectives.Develop and update key messaging, speeches, and presentations.Coordinate and prepare meetings, briefings, and communication sessions.Act as a member of the sites’ crisis management and emergency response team, support third parties on site with their crisis management.Manage local media relations outreach, prepare briefings, develop key messages and shape talking points. Act as a media spokesperson as needed and appropriate.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholder groups, community members and local influencers. Develop and implement stakeholder outreach programs and manage the communications flows.Understand key policy themes and drive successful advocacy delivery.Monitor and analyze political developments, coordinate Company’s position and response.Manage local/country CSR programs and related communications activities.Develop and implement local employee communications strategy and plan; manage communication channels to employees (newsline, e-mail, management newsletter, displays, video broadcast, intranet, communication sessions, social media etc.).Ensure social media is an integrated part of the communications approach.QualificationsA minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.A minimum of 6 years of relevant working experience.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
