This unique position will primarily serve as an Online Video/Media Developer reporting to SMU's Online Production Services group developing courses as part of the university's SMU in Four strategic initiative. This position will occasionally support special virtual conferencing needs hosted from the SMU President’s Board Room—as requested by the President's Office/SMU VIPs. The Online Video/Media Developer will create digital course materials such as still and motion graphics, professional quality audio and video media, and basic animations. Additionally, this position will serve to build out SMU’s growing in-house, online course production services capabilities.Essential Functions:Leads and manages video media production for a broad range of strategic university-level, OIT, online program, and ad-hoc projects from initial pre-production with stakeholders to delivery and distribution through campus platforms.Collaborates with professors, subject matter experts, and instructional designers on course multimedia design and delivery. Provides consultation and training for professors and subject matter experts on how to create high-quality lecture recordings, video and image accessibility, fair use practices, and file management.Edits digital media content using nonlinear software systems, electronic and motion graphics, animations, digital effects, sound effects, and music into finished packages that meet appropriate branding guidelines, quality rubrics, customer expectations, and other approvals. Creates motion graphics for use in media.Directs and records video and audio both in studio and on-location as required by stakeholders, talent, faculty, and other subjects. Operates high-quality cameras, audio, grip, and lighting gear to acquire video and media content both in-studio and on-location.Manages and maintains studio, studio scheduling, and studio equipment. Supervises studio student workers.Monitors advances in media solutions and techniques. Continually refines studio and production processes to include advances that improve media and video production services for campus. Makes recommendations regarding purchases of equipment, staff assignments, and production operations.Serves as technical point person for virtual conferencing and other live events hosted from the SMU President’s Board Room for the President’s Office. Provides “on call” assistance to the President’s Office and other VIPs for consultation regarding virtual meetings and events, coordination of configuration technology systems, coordination of appropriate IT staffing, and coordination of necessary hardware and software-based systems.Serves as the direct point of contact for the President’s Office for Zoom meetings and webinars.Qualifications:Education and Experience:Bachelor’s is required. Master's is preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required. Candidate must have experience with technology or media production in video/film/television including using modern editing software, experience and fluency across production hardware and software tools, experience working with VIPs and other high-level executives, and the ability to shoot and produce video content in multiple environments. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite software, studio settings with non-actors, and the field of education are preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. Candidate must be adept with all AV and camera technologies for production or virtual conferencing. Knowledge of Zoom is required.A working knowledge of video monitors, preview and input monitors, production switchers, audio mixing boards, linear/nonlinear editors, storage (servers), waveform monitors, vector scopes, camera control units, speakers, video router/patch panels, sync generators, cameras and camera pedestals, lighting rigs, tungsten lights and lighting control boards, microphones preferred. Experience with video software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, AfterEffects, etc., is preferred.Physical and Environmental Demands:Sit for long periods of timeOccasional evening and weekend work as required by President's Office and VIPs to assist with virtual conferencing and webinar eventsDeadline to Apply:
