Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Initial placement can range from $51.86 up to $70.64 per hour.The Position

The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in the Library. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available.Duties and Responsibilities

The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position:Provide reference service and instruction on the use of print and electronic information resources to students, faculty, staff, and the community.Collection development.Implementation of print and electronic information resources and services.Library research orientations.Development and instruction of credit classes in Library Studies and information competency.Activities designed to promote library services to students, faculty, and staff.Collaborate with other college faculty in developing information competency components within their disciplines.Participate in the development and maintenance of the library webpage.Creation of instructional support materials in print and online formats.Catalog library materials, using OCLC.Train and supervise library technicians in cataloging and technical processing.Computer programming to support library services.Perform other duties as required by contract and general institutional needs.Organize and manage archives.Participate in the development and delivery of public program events.Participate in the design and delivery of library services to on campus and remote users and online students.Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a Master’s or above in library science, library and information science OR equivalent.Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The screening committee will select interview candidates from among those applicants who, in addition to meeting the requirements, give evidence of any or all of the following:Experience providing reference assistance to students, faculty, and staff in a technologically advanced library environment.Knowledge of print and electronic information resources and services.Experience in teaching in traditional and distance education environments.Demonstrated proficiency in the development of print and web-based instructional materials for credit and/or no-credit courses, orientation sessions, workshops, tutorials, and information pathfinders.Ability to work sensitively and effectively with students, faculty and staff in a team-based environment as well as independently.Demonstrated skill in effective oral and written communication.Knowledge and experience in collection development.Experience in cataloging using OCLC for original and copy cataloging.Experience facilitating participation of faculty in the development of library materials and services.Effectively communicate in written and oral forms in a language in addition to English.Experience in organizing and managing archival collections.Experience in providing effective and user-friendly access services for on campus and online students.An understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.Conditions of Employment
