Nationwide Student Employment Jobs (On Campus)Broadly responsible for leading all external facing social media efforts including regular posts to our Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts.Identify research backed content that complements the projects, scholarship, and creative works of IRISE.Create and maintain posting schedule.Conduct research to prepare engaging content.Communicate effectively and timely with IRISE team.Independently and proactively seek out content and information from across campus to elevate the works of campus partners, such as DEI initiatives and faculty scholars.Create on-brand biweekly IRISE newsletter, in communication and collaboration with IRISE staff, and disseminate on a reliable schedule.Attend weekly or bi-weekly administration meetings to collaborate with IRISE staff to develop the vision for social media efforts, stay abreast of current IRISE projects and research, and receive creative and logistical feedback from supervisors.Attend 1:1 mentor meetings with IRISE staff.Complete additional communications tasks and needs as assigned by the IRISE Associate Director. This may include creating flyers in Canva, creating content that will go on our websites, or supporting other media related needs of IRISE projects.Work with the IRISE staff to design and implement social media strategies that align with the goals and vision of IRISE. This will include content development and regular posts, stories, tweets, retweets, follows, and other content creation on all IRISE affiliated social media accounts.Track engagement on all affiliated social media accounts to inform social media strategies.Attendance at IRISE events.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to work independently to complete assignments on time and design creative content that aligns with the mission and vision of IRISE.Skill in collaborating with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.Exceptional verbal and written skills, including the capacity to respectfully engage with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.Skill in identifying and developing strategies for engaging and effective communication for email, newsletter content, website and social media platforms.Knowledge of social justice issues and their impact on a range of individuals and groups.Familiarity with software such as Canva, Mailchimp, Squarespace, and others – or willingness to learn.Required QualificationsCurrent undergraduate or graduate student at DU, enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year and located in the Denver area.While experience performing the requirements of this role is preferred, we welcome inexperienced applicants as well as those with a passion for learning.Interest in learning how to use software for communications, marketing, and podcast production.Preferred QualificationsActive involvement in campus community and activities.Major in relevant field of study.Familiarity with Denver area and community organizations and social justice efforts.Familiarity with Critical Race Theory, its offshoots, and their application and relevance for social justice efforts in and outside academia.Bilingual in Spanish and English.Physical ActivitiesAbility to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.This position is eligible for a federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office. Students will be paid $20/hr, with the opportunity for yearly increases, depending on performance. Applicants must be eligible to receive federal work-study funds. This position requires at least 3 days and 10-15 hours per week for fall, winter, and spring quarters with flexibility in scheduling and the potential to work during the summer.
