PURPOSE OF POSITION:Capture information about news content, shoot, edit, and deliver information on-line and on-air.PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Build enterprise content that is aligned with news strategiesAbility to accurately and creatively report daily news and breaking newsReport live and on-tape – scripted and unscriptedWork closely with digital content director and managing editor to build compelling contentWrite copy and order graphicsFunction as a MSJ, report, write, shoot and edit contentParticipate in editorial meetings, supply meaningful enterprise contentEnsure that all daily show production deadlines are metMaintain an unequivocal dedication to accuracy, fairness and ethicsPrepare copy for use on-line, social/digital media and on radioOther duties, as assigned.STRENGTHS YOU'LL NEED:
Results-Oriented and InnovativeProven ability to write and edit broadcast copy that is aligned with news strategiesAbility to work within tight deadlines.Appear comfortable on camera; receive feedback and adjust performance accordinglyExperience with non-linear shooting and editing, a plusKnowledge of use of social media required. The ability to execute station’s social media strategy and efforts is necessary.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Five years’ experience as a general assignment reporter, preferably in a top 20 marketBachelor’s degree in journalism or similar field.Familiarity with Chicago area, strongly preferred.
