The Film, Digital and Media Manager is a part-time role that will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our film and digital/media projects.They will work closely with Eastside colleagues to enhance Eastside’s online presence, developing digital content to support and promote Eastside’s programmes.This role would suit someone with a passion for film and digital media as well as new technology, and experience of working in an educational/creative learning setting delivering engagement activities for young people. We are looking for someone to manage our programmes for 16-25 year olds and drive our ambition to nurture the next generation of digital filmmakers, creatives, and influencers from their first courses through targeted development opportunities through to successful first steps in the industry.Reports to:

Artists, practitioners, freelance technical support, Eastside Production AssistantsThis role will have a particular focus on 3 of Eastside’s key charitable aims:To inspire and empower all children and young people to express their voices and realise their full creative potential.To explore and incorporate appropriate cutting-edge new technology into our creative projects to enrich our offer, meaningfully grow our reach and find new ways to deliver our work.To become widely known and celebrated as a Centre of Excellence for Creative Education.The Film, Digital and Media Manager’s main duties fall into two categories:Manage, develop and drive forward Eastside’s film, digital and media programmes.Work to meet the programme targets and objectives outlined in the organisation’s business plan including the Film and Digital Programme strategy.Support the development of young filmmakers engaging them with high-quality filmmaking/digital programmes of work for example through our annual

BFI Film Academy short course .Support the creation and promotion of youth-led film and digital content through the delivery of Eastside’s programme portfolio.Work with the Schools Programme Team and Eastside’s Senior Management Team to design and test new creative engagement programmes for young filmmakers, incorporating digital art forms such as podcasting, animation, visual design and vlogging, and exploring the use of new technologies wherever possible.Manage Eastside’s livestream delivery teams as part of the

offer, supporting the development of tech scripts, briefing the tech team, and directing livestreams.Recruit, develop and manage a portfolio of specialist artists and freelance technical support staff.Ensure that all safeguarding procedures are followed including the organising of appropriate DBS checks.Work with the Facilities and Operations Assistant to manage and maintain the inventory of Eastside’s film and media equipment, ordering new equipment as needed.Nurture the community of alumni from Eastside film and digital programmes ensuring networking and professional development opportunities.Manage Eastside film and digital programme screening/sharing events as required.Film, Digital and Media Content CreationLead on the creation of promotional videos for Eastside attracting audiences and participants to our programmes.Work with the Schools Programme Manager to produce interactive creative video workshops and training resources for teachers and schools as part of the

programme.Work with the Marketing and Communications manager to refine and develop Eastside’s online platforms and website.Identify and cultivate partnerships with arts or other external organisations to develop

professional commission opportunities.Provide written materials pertaining to the Film, Digital and Media Programme for marketing and evaluation purposes, the website and Eastside social media platforms as required (e.g. case studies).Promote the creation and sharing of positive and relevant youth-led film and digital content.Person specificationKnowledge & experience:A minimum of three years’ experience working in an educational/cultural learning setting or equivalent.Proven experience working with or within the creative or cultural industries.Experienced in producing film and/or digital media content, achieving strong audience engagement.Devising, implementing and managing projects within budget and to agreed deadlines.Communicating with key stakeholders including teachers, senior leadership teams in schools, artists, delivery partners and funders.Experience of working with children and young people.Managing and motivating line reports, artists and volunteers.Skills & abilities:Expert at telling stories, particularly through short form films, and communicating them digitally.Sound film, digital and media technical skills.Strong communication skills and ability to represent Eastside to a variety of partners and stakeholders.Resourceful in using media across a variety of platforms – live streaming; vlogging; social media; websites.Familiar with writing materials for digital resources including teacher resource packs, news stories and social media posts.Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.Clear focus and attention to detail.Demonstrable team working skills.Ability to manage and prioritise a challenging and varied workload.Ability to deliver film, digital and media programmes for in-person and online settings, using Zoom and other platforms creatively to meet programme needs.Qualities & behaviours:Passion for film, media and digital processes.Passionate about the role of creativity and culture within educational settings.Friendly, positive and collaborative style.Natural networker.Methodical and measured approach to work.Calm under pressure.Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with diverse people and groups.Committed to the aims and ethos of Eastside, particularly equality diversity and inclusion.Hours, pay and benefits2.5 days per week – expected 2 days in office, 0.5 remote, although a flexible approach is available.12 month contract with the possibility of continuation beyond this period.There is the option to take on additional days of work if additional programme funding or commissioned film work is secured.Shifts:

Office work most likely Tuesday to Thursday, with occasional weekend and evening work dependent on project needs.Location:

Eastside’s office at 37 Hackney Road, E2 7NX, with occasional project visits across London and the opportunity for hybrid home working when not on project delivery.Probation:

Three months.Notice: one week during probation, six weeks thereafter.Holiday:

20 days per annum pro rata plus bank holidays and 7 additional days during the Christmas period when the office is closed.Pension:
