Duties

As a Interior Designer you will:

Determine requirements, reconnaissance, location, and prepare designs, specifications, estimates, and procure documents.

Apply a broad knowledge of methods, precedents, and standards to significantly diverse and intense work complexities.

Investigate, identify, and document client needs; analyze needs, propose options and, work with the client, developing specific solutions; develop design documents, including contract working drawings and specifications; and, as appropriate, manage design projects performed in-house or by contract.

Work primarily involved with furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) issues.

Coordinate work in field required to provide for furniture, fixtures, and equipment reconfiguration or installation.

Requirements

US Citizenship is required.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov).

May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation.

Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared .

One-year probationary period may be required.

This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-521).

In accordance with Executive Order 12564 of September 15, 1986, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is A Drug-Free Federal Workplace. This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: Designing Interior spaces, creating documents, managing projects, and using computer-aided drafting software.

Education

Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.
