We are seeking a part-time Acquisitions Editor to acquire compelling nonfiction titles in current affairs, politics, psychology, sociology, technology, editing and publishing, fashion, arts and culture, the humanities, economics, and more. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in finding exceptional manuscripts and proposals, fostering long-term relationships with writers, and contributing to the growth and success of our publishing catalog. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a list from the ground up and acquire projects that can affect positive change, challenge conventional thinking, and spark conversations. No editorial work is required.

Responsibilities:Soliciting and acquiring books for publication that align with the company's vision and market demand.

Building and maintaining relationships with authors, agents, and industry contacts, effectively communicating the company's vision and the value proposition for potential partnerships.

Identifying trends in nonfiction subject areas and researching potential writers.

Qualifications:Publishing expertise: Proven experience in acquisitions or editorial roles within the publishing industry, with a strong understanding of book acquisition processes.

Market insight: In-depth knowledge of market trends, reader preferences, and the ability to identify marketable and commercially viable content.

Relationship building: Excellent networking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and industry professionals.

Passion for books: Genuine passion for nonfiction writing, books, and the publishing industry.

Requirements:Bachelor's degree

Proven track record of successful acquisitions in a publishing or editorial capacity

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Location and hours: This position is fully remote with a flexible schedule. This is a part-time job of up to 20 hours per week.

Salary: $35-40 per hour; commensurate with experience. The salary will be discussed during the interview.
