Hopkinton could be the vibrant, growing community and library for you!Under the supervision of the Reference and Technology Supervisor, the Reference Librarian performs skilled professional reference work providing various types of support to library patrons and in the daily operations of the Library, particularly Adult Services. This position is responsible for assisting patrons at the reference desk; supports patrons in the use of library and personal technology devices within the library as needed; and assists in the staffing, maintenance, and management of the makerspace and other specialty items.Qualifications

One (1) to three (3) years of professional experience in a public library or in Library internship positions. Reference Librarian experience preferred. Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited program is preferred. Students close to completion of their MLS degree will also be considered.Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:Knowledge of principles and practices of professional library work, procedures, and basic reference sources and research techniques.Knowledge and proficiency in innovative technology and electronic resource use, instruction and troubleshooting. Interest and ability to acquire new technology skills as needed.Experience utilizing Google Workspace for productivity and collaboration preferred.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to work in a highly collaborative, team-based environment.Skill in customer service.This is a 19-hour per week position.
