Product Design Specialist - Expansion Joint Systems

Job Summary:

Provide product CAD drawings, models, illustrations, and specifications for new or custom products specific to the expansion joint product division.

Primary Duties:Work directly with sales and product management to create product drawings and control specifications.Assist in product design and design review process.Assist with product testing, and design verification.Verify that product designs are within our manufacturing capabilities.Maintain master drawings and models.Ensure that drawings and specifications are accurate and meet design intent.Stay current with illustration software and CAD design tools.Research materials and components to optimize design.Work with Finite Elemental Analysis software to evaluate designs before production.Act as a liaison between sales, manufacturing and vendors regarding product development.All other duties as assigned.Job Specifications:Proficient working knowledge CAD, SolidWorks, and illustration software.Understanding of Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA) process.The ability to read, understand and create part drawings, tolerances, and blueprints.Knowledgeable in many manufacturing and fabrication methods for metal.Ability to prioritize tasks and follow through on completion.Communicate effectively both internally and externally.Strong oral and written communication skills.Maintain a professional image and enthusiastic attitude.Enjoys teamwork and collaboration across departments.Strong time management skills.Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.Education:Minimum 2 years of technical college with emphasis on mechanical design experience.Bachelor's degree or certification with an emphasis in mechanical design, mechanical engineering, digital manufacturing and design technology, or architecture.Job Relationship:Report directly to Senior Director of Product Design and Development.Works closely with product managers, sales, estimating, and manufacturing.Office Equipment / Software:Working knowledge of Microsoft Office utilizing Word, Excel.Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Adobe Creative Suite.Knowledge in modeling for Autodesk REVIT / BIM preferred, but not required.Authority:Update and maintain master drawings.Update and maintain technical documents/specs.Complete shop drawings per take-off.Benefits:Health insurance.Dental insurance.401(k) with 25% company match.Flexible spending account.Tuition reimbursement.Generous paid time off.Employee assistance program.Vision insurance.Employee discount.Life insurance.Referral program.Behaviors:Innovative - Consistently introduces new ideas and demonstrates original thinking.Team Player - Works well as a member of a group.Detail Oriented - Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well.Motivations:Ability to Make an Impact - Inspired to perform well by the ability to contribute to the success of a project or the organization.Job Security - Inspired to perform well by the knowledge that your job is safe.Self-Starter - Inspired to perform without outside help.Education:Bachelors of Design and Mechanical Systems (preferred).Bachelors of Architecture (preferred).Bachelors of Engineering (preferred).Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities.The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant...
