Receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls, dispatch appropriate law enforcement units, emergency services or city department personnel.Maintain certified access and enter sensitive data in local, state and national databases while maintaining confidentiality, integrity and discretion.Ability to maintain composure in a highly stressful environment involving simultaneous events with multiple interruptions and able to communicate clearly and effectively during emergency situations while exercising good judgment and sound decisions.Maintain a working knowledge of the City of Windcrest geography and surrounding areas.Ability to work a variety of shifts as assigned, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and willing to work additional hours beyond assigned shifts, sometimes with little or no notice.Experience and Skills Required

Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the general public and staff personnel utilizing effective oral and written communication skills.Sufficient computer knowledge to navigate software applications or databases concurrently.Effective listening and problem-solving skills.Data entry and multitasking skills.Supervisory Controls

Communications Officers report directly to the Communications Supervisor. The Communications Supervisor assigns and reviews work through reports and observation of activities.Qualifications
