Reporting to the Deputy Projects Editor, the Projects Editor will work in the brand-new Milwaukee studio space and on location with a team of creatives to produce engaging, on-brand content that is created and executed to meet goals and budgets. This person is highly organized, a team player and always focused on the brand’s top priorities for its high-quality content.About you:You never run out of ideas for content that brings out the interior designer in people who love DIY, and you understand how to work with your team to make ideas come to life across multiple channels. You are extremely deadline-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced studio setting creating projects for multiple digital platforms that inspire readers and others on your team to work smartly and collaboratively.Your day-to-day:Create unique DIY project content for the Family Handyman website while ensuring the work meets our high standardsKeep up with trends and evolving directions in the design and décor space and use that knowledge to conceptualize innovative content that helps our readers understand those trends and how to apply them in their own homesYou will produce both short- and long-form how-to content related to interior design, home décor, painting, remodeling, upcycling, etc.You take direction from the Deputy Projects Editor and work with them to ensure content is delivered on time and within budgetWork with a team of project editors as well as stakeholders from video, print and digital on projects for audiences across platformsYou are a subject matter expert who works seamlessly with others to ensure continued business growth, mentors junior staff and actively contributes to our dynamic company and creative cultureYou have:2-3 years of experience working with interior design, home décor, or related fields2-3 years of experience working with high-performing editorial teamsFamiliarity and understanding of interior design and home décor principles and trendsBachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Interior Design, or other related areas OR 2-4 years of previous, related experienceDemonstrated success in building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and leadershipEffective problem-solving and multitasking skills, and you can easily juggle multiple projects at the same time and work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and oral communication skills, with decisive and direct styleExcellent interpersonal skills, highly collaborative and a positive change agentExperience with content production, SEO, and management tools such as WordPress, Airtable, SEMRush, Skyword and understanding of how to use these tools to drive content decisionsAbout this team:The Projects Editor position is critically important to the success of the Family Handyman brand and TMB overall.
