Summary:Are you a good writer and want to have your creativity shared in Columbia’s premier magazine? Do you enjoy writing engaging copy and promoting the city in upbeat, fun content? If so, we may have the job for you.This position with Inside Columbia magazine assists with the content for our award-winning bi-monthly city magazine and ancillary publications. He or she researches and writes stories; coordinates and writes our e-newsletters; works with freelance writers and editors; maintains editorial deadlines; assists the sales department with special advertising sections; and safeguards the editorial integrity of the product.Key Responsibilities:Works with editor to research and select story topics for bi-monthly city magazine and ancillary publications. Makes photo suggestions and follows up as needed with photo editor.Writes department and feature content for Inside Columbia magazine.Responsible for the content of our e-newsletters that serve niche audiences in Columbia and makes photo recommendations.Reviews and edits all submitted content. Performs final copy edit before approving finals for the printer.Writes advertising copy, sales sheets and collateral marketing material for the magazine and within departments within the company.Participates in company-sponsored events.Schedules, plans and helps facilitate quarterly Advisory Board meetings and events.Collaborates with department to generate social media content for Inside Columbia magazine’s social media accounts.Assists with inside promotions and contests for Inside Columbia magazine.Participates in the community in a volunteer capacity on boards and committees.Minimum Requirements:A bachelor’s degree in journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferably one to three years of experience in the journalism or marketing field, specifically in the content creation field.Superior writing and reporting skills.Thorough knowledge of Associated Press style.Ability to manage multiple projects and diverse personalities.Ability to hit and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.A grasp of social media platforms and digital publishing technology and a willingness to keep up with new trends.An in-depth knowledge of the community.What We Offer:Excellent benefits including a 401K, medical packages including optional dental and vision.A fun and entertaining work environment.Vacation accrual from day 1.Paid holidays.Ongoing training both in group meetings and individual one-on-one support.Recognition awards.Zimmer Communications is an equal opportunity employer.
