Media RelationsThe Public Relations role monitors the development of organizational communications for the general public, customers, employees, government agencies, and communities. While managing large projects with limited supervision, this job works with various business units to plan marketing initiatives and develop strategies and marketing plans. This job is also responsible for creating and distributing original content to external media resources.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Reviews the writing, editing and publishing of organizational publications of the company's publications.Reviews strategies for organizational initiatives, ensuring consistency of messages across all divisions and levels across the enterprise.Develops communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its services.Monitors external media relations and creates rapport to present a positive image of the organization to external sources.Reviews external communications to ensure the accuracy of the information.Coaches and delegates work to lower level communications professionals to ensure high-quality and timely completion of projects.Educational Requirements

5 + years of public and media relations management experienceFinancial Services experiencePreferred:University Degree7+ years of public and media relations management experienceWealth management experienceHands on experience working closely with national, local trade reporters and editors in print, broadcast and digital mediaDeveloping and executing PR programsOverview:The Director of WM PR is responsible for designing and executing external communications programs to advance awareness of TIAA’s Wealth Management business and ancillary consumer-facing offerings including 529 plans, IRAs, financial and estate planning. The scope of these programs includes media relations, external executive visibility and presence, and social media.Responsibilities & Duties:Create and execute strategic external communication programs to support key business priorities and goals set by senior TIAA leaders and marketing partners including lifetime income, financial wellness and the firm’s consumer products and services.Drive PR programs into the market through all applicable communications channels, especially targeted media outlets, with particular focus on leveraging the firm’s relevant subject matter experts to boost awareness of the TIAA Wealth Management and its client offerings by securing earned coverage in key print, broadcast, and digital media.Support external visibility program of TIAA Wealth Management CIO including on-going calendar of broadcast opportunities.Create content, including bylines, key messages, Q&A, and press releases that position the firm’s Wealth Management and B2C businesses with key external stakeholders.Serve as a trusted communications advisor to a wide range of internal Wealth Management and related TIAA stakeholders.Conduct ongoing media training and message development for TIAA spokespeople in support of an expanding bench of spokespeople.Work with colleagues to amplify earned media through all available internal and external platforms, including social media and the firm’s internal communications platforms.Provide sound stewardship of available resources, including agency support.Anticipated Posting End Date:
