Full Stack Web Developer

As a Full Stack Web Developer, you’ll collaborate closely with your supervisor to oversee the day-to-day web application development operations within the OIT Web Services team. Your responsibilities will include managing client relationships, handling project intake, gathering project and feature specifications, prioritizing tasks, assigning work to junior team members, conducting code reviews, and providing training. In this role, you’ll also foster productive relationships with a diverse constituency, including faculty, staff, students, and other teams within OIT.

Bachelor’s degree preferred2-5+ years of related technical experience

Key Skills and Expertise

Developing and maintaining database-driven web applications: You’ll demonstrate expert knowledge of various relational database management systems, with a strong preference for MySQL.Project management and process modeling: You’ll have experience leading web development projects, including developing new applications, refactoring legacy systems, modernizing apps, writing user stories, and delegating tasks.Programming languages and frameworks: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and Node.js is essential. Familiarity with application development frameworks such as Laravel, Next.js, Kohana, and Codeigniter is also valuable.React and Vue proficiency: You must have strong experience with React, and familiarity with Vue.js is preferred.Debugging and problem-solving: Your ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently will be crucial.Continuous learning: You’ll stay curious and adapt to new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.Version control with Git: Expertise in Git is essential.Shell scripting (Bash): You’ll be comfortable working with shell scripts.On-call rotation: You’re fine with participating in the team’s on-call rotation.DevOps concepts: While not mandatory, some knowledge and practice with building CI/CD pipelines, using GitHub Actions, creating Docker and Docker Compose files, and managing apps deployed to a Kubernetes cluster would be advantageous.Strong communications skills and the ability to collaborate with non-technical users throughout all phases of project design and implementationPossess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.
