Job Description

We are looking for a full-time Development and Communications Assistant (DCA) who will wholeheartedly jump in to support the Development and Communications Team. Our DCA will join a team of mission-driven, high-achieving, and deeply caring professionals in fundraising and communications activities. They will perform skilled administrative and clerical duties directly related to Cope’s donors, volunteers, communications, fundraising, outreach, and events. The ideal candidate has excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to start their career in fundraising, communications, marketing, graphic design, copywriting or a related field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate gift processing in Salesforce database in accordance with department procedures and in a timely fashion

Assist with correspondence, collection of information, and responding to donor and volunteer inquiries

Assist with the implementation of donor stewardship plan, including calls, direct mail and other donor recognition opportunities

Assist with direct-mail appeals and production of publications, other marketing and outreach materials

Help prepare monthly reports and dashboards

Maintain Cope’s photo, video, and story library

Process and distribute Cope mail daily

Assist with miscellaneous data maintenance

Assist the Team with various administrative tasks as necessary

Support projects as directed, including, but not limited to, in the areas of communications, fundraising, outreach, volunteer recruitment and support, donor relations, and events

Support the agency’s community disaster relief work in times of need, as assigned

Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

One (1) year proven experience in marketing, public relations, community organizing, or related field required

Bachelor’s and/or associate degree in communications, marketing, public administration or other related field preferred

Demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of people; strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, required

Open, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful of differences and aware of and manages own bias(es) as part of Cope’s inclusive and caring community

Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required

Experience managing social media platforms required; experience administering social media platforms specifically for organizations and/or businesses preferred (for example, administration of a Facebook page rather than a personal Facebook profile)

Data entry/spreadsheet experience required; data base administration experience a preferred; familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM system preferred

Graphic design and/or production experience a plus

Self-starter who takes initiative, anticipates obstacles and is a problem solver with the ability to complete projects independently within a team-based environment

Strives for quality and sets high standards for own performance, putting the effort forth to get the job done right

Thrives on multi-tasking and has the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a high degree of accuracy and a cheerful attitude

Assumes responsibility for meeting stakeholder needs and holds themselves accountable for follow-up

Availability to occasionally work irregular hours, including weekends, as necessary for meeting deadlines and supporting after-hours events and meetings

Must possess valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance

Pass DOJ and FBI fingerprinting and background check.

Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Job Type: Full-Time/40 Hours per Week/Non-Exempt/Benefited

Hourly Range: $23.00 - $25.50
