POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Public Relations Manager is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves business communications specialist with expertise providing clear, concise written and verbal messaging for external audiences. You can easily traverse multiple communications priorities – whether you are proactively developing stories to increase awareness of Yum! Brands global business and strategic growth priorities and its executives, reporting the quarterly earnings or communicating through a crisis. You know how to build relationships with key media to tell different aspects of Yum! Brands’ story.

Salary Range: $118,500 – $139,400 annually + bonus eligibility. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in establishing pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Communications:

Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans and programs that support Yum! Brands’ business priorities including a deep focus on story mining internally and storytelling externally to various stakeholders around the company’s growth priorities including: Unrivaled Culture & Talent; Unmatched Operating Capability; Relevant, Easy & Distinctive Brands; Bold Restaurant Development.

Leadership Visibility:

Proactively identify and manage high level Yum! executive visibility media and speaking engagements, pitch top-tier media outlets, manage execution and provide counsel to senior leadership.

Writing & Storytelling:

Compose well-written, compelling narratives and strategic business content for various channels and use cases including: press releases, briefing materials, statements, talking points, FAQs, speeches, long-form stories for owned channels, social media content, blogs, videos, slides, fact sheets and other materials.

Media Relations:

Manage an array of media inquiries and opportunities, pitch top-tier outlets and develop comprehensive strategies and messaging in order to build and protect the reputation of Yum! and its brands.

Financial Communications:

Support business and financial communications content and strategy around quarterly earnings, announcements and events.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with Yum!, cross-brand and cross-functional teams on various initiatives and workstreams under tight deadlines to connect dots, ensure strategic messaging across audiences and advance the organization’s business objectives.

Key Qualifications and Required Skills:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field.

Experience:

8-10 years of PR/media relations experience within a large global corporation and/or with PR agencies supporting large, global, publicly-traded organizations.

Experienced communicator and project manager with a track record of developing and executing comprehensive proactive and crisis communications strategies, plans and tactics that drive results and advance business objectives.

Strong written and verbal communication skills including writing, editing and presenting.

Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and collaborate cross-functionally within an organization, working with internal and external partners, agencies and vendors under deadline to build consensus and deliver results.

Proven ability to identify and understand complex financial concepts, industry trends and news cycles in order to create compelling communications.

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and vigilant attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines.
